They did not test P3Dv4 though so I would wait for Rob's and Westman's tests for that (glad to hear Rob will be testing his new cards in single GPU mode). https://www.anandtech.com/show/13346/the-nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-and-2080-founders-edition-review I bit the bullet a few months ago and got a 1080ti because heavy weather was pegging my 780gtx in 4k. I can tell you that I have never seen the 10080ti above 60% GPU usage, however I am still on a 3770k @4.5 ghz so that it probably bottlenecking the amount of data that can even get to the GPU. I run conservative medium settings to maintain a 30 FPS. After I upgrade the rest of my system I may be wanting a more powerful GPU. To quote Nick Needham, "I am back on the hardware hamster wheel". Ted Hi Ted, Thanks for that. I should have asked for a comparison with a 1080 instead as that is my current card. But I think if I’m going for a 2010i then I really need a processor to compliment it and my i7-4770K is certainly not it. I may bite the bullet and go for an i9 over the top i7 with a new system. That should guarantee at least five years of good performance at UHD. I still don’t expect to run with all sliders to the right nor would I want to. With 100% Ai you’d be waiting ages for a take-off slot! 😀 I await Rob’s findings with interest. Ray (Cheshire, England). Hmm, do you have similar comparisons for 980Ti vs. 1080Ti that you can put in relation to what you observed inside P3D? I still think that this FireStrike-Result might be the closest to what we can see in P3D, for sure not results of DX12 based engines. So, is 23% performance increase over a 1080Ti really that enormous that it justifies such a price tag? Not for me... However, I am looking forward to your experience with the novel cards, personally my bet is: you will be disappointed... No idea how any of those % increase values will translate to P3D ... but like I said, in order to evaluate the 2080Ti performance potential in P3D I need to test P3D graphics options that are more GPU bound (AA, DL, DR, etc.) and not options that are CPU bound (AI Traffic, Road Traffic, Ship Traffic, etc.). The way NOT to test is drop in a new 2080Ti and run P3D knowing one's graphics settings and add-ons are already pegging the CPU at 100% ... the results in those situations will be virtually no change. But I'll be sure to demonstrate this during my testing so folks are aware that you can make P3D CPU or GPU bound or both. I hear a lot of inaccurate information suggesting P3D is entirely CPU bound, which is not the case ... it's always a balance and I can easily make P3D GPU bound by just changing one setting to 8XSSAA at 4K res, or enable DL in a DL supported airport, etc. etc. My testing will focus on the GPU side and how well those GPU specific tasks compare from a TitanXP to 2080Ti. Cheers, Rob.
September 24, 20187 yr Commercial Member Hi @Rob Ainscough , I'm really looking forward to your reviews on both the 2080ti and the i9-9900K... I'm holding off on these before starting to build my new gaming PC! Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
September 26, 20187 yr I have a 1080 SLI rig that I run P3d on now. My RTX 2080TI is on order and will be here in a few weeks. I will post my general impression once I get the card. Scott KGPI

September 27, 20187 yr The 2080ti is now available for preorder in Australia and they are a whopping 2000 AUD plus! The Asus 2080ti strix comes in at 2249 AUD which is a 900 AUD premium over the 1080ti strix. By contrast the 2080 will sell for about 1400 AUD which is about 100 AUD more than the 1080ti. I await with interest the testing of these cards with P3D but the 2080ti would have to produce something amazing to justify its premuim over the cheaper options. Mine are supposed to arrive Tuesday according to nVidia order Status ... since their HQ is about an hour away from me in Santa Clara, I visit a few months ago just to check it out, very impressive facility and their campus is HUGE. They serve some very nice high quality food and interesting tech inside that visitors are welcome to checkout. It's like those wild exotic buildings you see in SciFi movies ... Anyone visiting CA (NorCal), definitely tour nVidia HQ/campus (Santa Clara), Google HQ/campus (MountainView), PIXAR HQ/campus (Emeryville) is very cool, and of course Apple HQ in Cupertino ... skip Intel HQ (Santa Clara) not much to see, same for AMD HQ (also Santa Clara). Cheers, Rob.

Yes there are a lot of small screws, plastic washers, and springs ... done many. The most time consuming part is removal of the heat transfer pads and application of the thinner pads to the memory chips and VRMs ... slow methodical process not to be rushed. Fortunately the EK instructions are usually sufficient even if in tiny tiny print, hopefully they provide a PDF online I can zoom into. I know I'm old, but I hate working with magnifying headset ... it's like playing Doctor. Cheers, Rob.
