New DX10 "Artist & Concept Image"

Featured Replies

Wonder why nobody has posted this yet. Aerosoft hosts a report by Flusipilot.de from the Games Convention in Leipzig. That report has, amongst a few other new FSX images, another set of DX9 and "DX10 Artist & Concept" images, at least the one of Seattle is new to me (I apologize if it is something old).Go here: http://www.aerosoft.de then click on the leftmost image. On the then following page look for "Games Convention" and click on "Bericht lesen". The DX9/10 images are near the bottom of the page.Cheers,Siggy

Thanks for the link. Not seen some of those before.Craig

That shot of Seattle is outstanding.A lot of the guys on this forum have been saying "I can't wait for FSX to be released." I can wait for FSX, it's only a month or two to go now. But I can't wait for those DX10 cards, it seems like it will be well into next year before I can get me a decent 2nd generation one of those!I saved that shot of Seattle, and I'll make it my desktop background.Mike.

Seen those. But I have to remind myself that it's an artists concept of what it might look like. That means that it won't look like that in reality.

>Seen those. But I have to remind myself that it's an artists>concept of what it might look like.>>That means that it won't look like that in reality. It might and with a great computer it will be just like that -- look at the grass in the last picture (Seatle) - bring it on!dito

It is indeed good to see the update will feature grass. I think ground detail can increase the realism by at least 20% in some case.

i dont see any grass?ok the dev team has placed some shrubs to make the scene more populated but other than that the ground has flat textures....

Well.. the thing is..both the water are nice DX9 and DX10.DX9 water is also requied for still lakes. and DX10 water is required when there is wind or ocean and other non still waters. There are lakes in Vancouver that are more like the DX9 water than the DX10.IMO, they are not mutually exclusive. Hopefully we can get both types of water...by using "Water class" files? :)Manny

Not really liking the artist rendition of Seattle. I've never seen Alki Point (where that Seattle one would be taken if it was real) with large ocean swells like that unless it was a large wind storm.

No the glass is half empty ;-)Weeeelll it could look even beter but at 1 frame per minute it would be a bit useless. But seriously. The DX10 path still has to be programmed which is good because the current DX9 shader2 path certainly needs some work (judging from the demo).I will believe the DX10 hype when I see the first real renders. Until that time van Gogh or Rembrand impressions will be judged on their artistic merrits. Not bad that 'painting ' of Seattle. But I like the impressionists beter. (which by the way would be a way cool feature. A 3d shader that makes a Monet or a Van Gogh world think of al the out of this world moments)
