August 16, 200619 yr Moderator There are some terrific comparisons between FSX/FS9 default scenery in the "Dynamic Living World" tab.http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx/flash Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 16, 200619 yr I had noticed that a couple of days ago...had no idea that it was new. I particularly like the fact that cities no longer had to be in a circle around the point the map said they were at...the urban environment spreads out in a more natural sprawl. Especially for coastal cities, this will look a lot better.
August 16, 200619 yr Notice the difference in brightness in the landclass!! From black to real colors. No need anymore for a BlueSphere update ;) We are heading in the right direction, FSX is cleared to land here.Regards, Gerritformer Fs9 BlueSphere author Gerrit

August 16, 200619 yr >>Those comparison shots have been on the site since it>opened>>I think.>>I have never before seen those cool 'Flash Animations."Well if you haven't seen them before there are likely to be others that haven't so no harm in bringing it to the attention of everybody.:-)

August 17, 200619 yr >There are some terrific comparisons between FSX/FS9 default>scenery in the "Dynamic Living World" tab.>>http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx/flashThese comparisons are valid as far as selling the product to the general public, but for us are like apples and oranges. Most of us has addons like UT, GE or GEPRO, FSG mesh FE etc... which make these comparisons actually look like a step backwards. For example here's a shot of the first Hawaii comparison, (East Coast of Ohau) with UT/GEPRO/FE/ASV6/fsg Mesh & Landclass. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/154306.jpg Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
August 17, 200619 yr I have all those improvements on fs9 and they are great-trouble is it takes 2-5 minutes for my fs9 to boot up now and I get about half the performance of what I get on the fs10 demo-and fs10 has lots of improvements besides just the scenery.Of course when these companies come out with their fs10 updates I will get them-and be right back at square one! :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
August 17, 200619 yr Tom is right though...We haven't seen FSX work in any location but one (St. Maartine). This location has a small island with water in every location... FSX loads up way slower on my machine in this area compared to FS9. FS9 runs and looks great on my current machine where as FSX doesn't and the visuals in some cases are about the same... Just a note, Dual Core processors are advertised on this FSX website pretty prominently in the lower right hand corner. I honestly believe that's what you
August 17, 200619 yr Hmmm... I have none of those, except for ASVI, so by getting FSX, I actually save myself $60 or so.As others have said, its not really fair to compare a fleshed-out, mature FS9 with a brand-new FSX. When FSX has been out for a few years, and we have $120 worth of scenery add-ons to put in it, then we can compare. :-)
