Not a fair comment. The venerable PMDG 737 has seen a long life with MSFS. Everyone has gotten far more than their money's worth just based on longevity alone. No developer has any obligation to update anything for a new version of MSFS. Or was your remark made with the tongue pressed firmly into the cheek?Doug

>Wait a minute...PMDG is pawning off a new version for people>to buy instead of patching the old one and everyone still>accuses ACES of trying to steal their money?Whoa there! Understand that while a specific FS9 package might successfully port into FSX......there are about an even dozen new features that will require a lot of model updates, texture changes/additions, and that's not to mention changes/improvements to the panel and gauge system, as well as the new camera configurations....You wouldn't want to be the only fellow at the airport who couldn't get the jetways to automatically move to your door would you?...You wouldn't want to be the only fellow at the airport who couldn't get the baggage conveyors and carts to come to your plane, would you?I hope by now the picture becomes more clear! :-beerchug

My girlfriend got tired of explaining my comments to people, so she just superglued my tongue there.

It's the required .dll file to operate the fmc systems, that won't work. So I wouldn't suspect there would be a work around to get it to work. This would also be true of any aircraft, or other addon that requires a .dll file. They will probably not work without the developers updates. The newer products, will probably be offered free or at an upgrade price. While older models would probably be redone, and sold new again like the PMDG 737, or abandoned completely! This is one of the main reasons, that I probably will be holding off purchase of FSX. I have spent alot of money on add ons for FS9, and I just don't see enough in FSX to justify spending it again!!!

Thanks

Many of the comments so far appear to be hardware/performance related, clearly a major concern. However, my only disappointments at this stage concern the autogen 'buildings' environment combined with the unrealistic clouds. I almost expect to see Donald Duck or Shrek running out of a house or flying by on a magic airplane. What I am trying to say is that I find the environment more 'game-like' or 'toyland-like' than I was hoping for. Of course there are many interesting advances that most of us will consider 'must-haves' - and I will be adding FSX to my collection regardless. It will in time be 'perfected' by tweaks and various add-ons, as have previous versions. I have no doubt about this whatsover. But as of now I still prefer flying VOZ Australia or New Zealand (with its superb free mesh/landclass offerings) for sheer immersion. Still, I will not judge the sim on one somewhat fairy-land location. Besides, many of the screen-shots we have seen show greatly improved general terrain (spoilt IMHO by the unnaturally garish sky clours in many of them) which is where my main personal interest lies. A BETA tester friend tells ne ALL of FSX is like it but I will judge for myself on that score. I must add that I very much appreciate the greatly improved aircraft physics and handling. Good stuff.
