January 5, 200620 yr Hey, I just noticed that about the roads connecting too. That's big, that's pretty cool. Now, if MSFS detailed airports look like that mega scenery frankfurt, that'll be awesome.

January 5, 200620 yr Hmm, didn't see any cars on the screenies I looked at.edit: I stand corrected, I see one screenie with a helo, and cars on the highway.
January 5, 200620 yr I hate to do this but check your PM. You'll love it Jeff D. Nielsen (KMCI) https://www.twitch.tv/pilotskcx https://discord.io/MaxDutyDay VENGEANCE a8200 Gaming PC: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, 64GB DDR5, 4TB (2TB/2TB) M.2 SSD, Win11 Pro
January 5, 200620 yr > DO NOT rush to judgements yet as you do not know other things that > may be a part of the new sim that you do not see yet but will impact > the environment.I wasn't rushing to any conclusions. I was simply stating I didn't see any from those screenshots. If cars and trucks were developed for FSX you would have to think they would want to show us (unless there is a surprise in store).John.

January 5, 200620 yr That's so weird Jeff, I had just seen that pic right before you PM'd me.Getting more excited, it's gonna be a long year waiting.

January 5, 200620 yr Yes, I noticed the roads:What I noticed was:The texture bit maps are far more detailed and they tile very well indeed. The lighting is vastly imporved and the waterThe deserst areas are using trees and shurbs and orgaic material now and there is a subtle use of colour that looks greatThe designs of the rural textues is nice and there is good variety and there is much more detail and it's possilbe to see crops growing The autogen detail is much improved and trees are 3D looking and very realTHE ROADS ARE AWESOME and are going in much more interesting directions and it seems like you could spend ages driving aroung this world in a carThere is tons of details close up that is amazing to look at. Parked carsResolution of the base bit maps is awesome and the fuzzy close up low level arrrrrrrrr crap is a thing of the past. Get down that low on snow in FS9 and it's nothing like FSXMicrosoft have done a great jobI can imagine replacement textures are going to be a challange to do better but the potential is huge here.I certainly hope I get the change to contribute to add-ons for FSXhttp://members.home.nl/vos69/Peter
January 5, 200620 yr The video and screenshots are impressive, but not overly so. It's just FS9 with more polish to take advantage of more powerful systems. I realize this is way early and all and that it will improve a great deal between now and then, but...Actually, it does concern me that this is slated to be so tightly integrated with Vista and DirectX 10. Will those who do not buy a new system with Vista be able to take advantage of the sim to the fullest? That's sure what it sounds like.He plugged an X-Box controller into the computer to play it, I'm encouraged that the sim might see release on the X-Box platform. Then I can finally dump the beige box, get an X-Box for Flight Sim and the occasional game, and use my Mac for all my real computer needs.Vista was really quite unimpressive. Mac OS X does everything they demoed except for games, and in some features' cases has done it for years. It amazes me how much MS is playing catch up.Pretty, quick, animated, and vector interface... Mac has that.Quick Photo Editing that never loses the original photo, slideshows, and all that fun stuff... Mac does that.Built in video conferencing... Mac does that.Built in RSS Feeds... Mac does that.Live, Updating Windows showing programs as they're running... Mac does that.Built in Parental Controls... Mac does that.Extremely quick search based on Meta data ... Mac does that.Games... well...

January 5, 200620 yr Has anyone noticed whether water freezes? That will be my buy/no buy deciding factor. I don't care how much better anything else is if I don't see frozen lakes this time. Don
January 5, 200620 yr Peter, I agree! The preview shots hold a lot of promise and a careful look shows that the Aces Studio folks have been doing their homework!!Having met a few of those fine folks at Osh Kosh 2005, I was impressed by their professional approach and have been eagerly anticipating what THEY have to share rather than picking thru all the opinions of the detractors :-)Those of us who had to download an addon called "blue sky" to turn the purple sky to blue in FS98 are appreciative of each new version. This "ain't Burger King", and you don't always get to "have it your way", but FSX looks very promising to me even if it seems I'm in a minority at the moment.:-)We are looking forward to whatever else the Aces Studio folks may want to share over the coming months as well.
