Has anyone noticed that the screenshots are in 1600x1200 and no longer in 1024x768?:-)

My first thought when I saw Bill fire that puppy up was: FS would be way cool spread out over that thing, nice 135 degree field of view, roughly 4 to 6 ft wide, I wonder when Bill's gonna ship mine to me :->.Tim

Yawn,FSX= FS9 + Bev, Ultimate Terrain, etc. Wake me up when Microsoft starts delivering Half Life 2 style graphics for its flight simulator series. ricardo

I am glad I have held out for a new rig...I am going to start collecting parts for it soon. With 512 mb video cards out and fast AMD 64bit CPU's, I should finally have a good rig...that will last for a few months before being obsolete! :)

Hi Chris,<>Well, the last version had to ship on 4 CDs, which is a pain at install time, and also cost more to manufacture, so even if we weren't adding more content than the previous version, going to DVD would be "a good thing" (I was suprised we didn't do that on the last version, but I guess penetration of DVD-Rom drives hadn't reached the magic percentage yet 2 years ago :-> ).Tim

>What the h***, i had this webcast running for 3 hours now,>and i missed the FS part....doooooh.>>OHNNo Worries, OHN. Go back to the webcast site on microsoft.com where they'll have it on depand by 11PM PST

"Pretty, quick, animated, and vector interface... Mac has that.Quick Photo Editing that never loses the original photo, slideshows, and all that fun stuff... Mac does that.Built in video conferencing... Mac does that.Built in RSS Feeds... Mac does that.Live, Updating Windows showing programs as they're running... Mac does that.Built in Parental Controls... Mac does that.Extremely quick search based on Meta data ... Mac does that.Games... well... "Actually there's lots of great games for the Mac. I personally play a lot of chess on my G5... :)Cheers,Jason

Well I think everything on the ground looks great, but the sky and clouds don't look that special. It looks like what I have now with Flight Enviorment. What will be my deciding factor to buy this or not is overall performance and air traffic control improvments.

You'll probably be waiting for a while. Guess you could always go for X-Plane. Oh yeah, your equation doesn't quite add up.FS2004: $50 (When released)BEV: $48 (All 4 seasons)UT-USA and Canada: $65Total: $163FSX: Likely $50-$60Hmmm..... I think I'd be getting a deal with FSX, even if it was exactly like you said.

A webcast of the event should be available after 11:00PM Pacific Time tonight (presumably from the www.microsoft.com website, since I couldn't find any mention of a streaming webcast (live or otherwise) of the event on the CES website, in fact, I wasn't real impressed with the design/layout of the CES site at all :-> ).Tim

>>Bill, with my (new) glasses I don't see anything beyond>what>>BEV offers today as far as autogen is concerned. There may>be>>details that I am missing - but if I have to strain my eyes>to>>notice them - they won't definitely improve quality of my>>out-of-cockpit experience. What would make a huge impact ->10>>times number of trees. I thought it was high time to solve>>this problem.>>There is a lot of detail. One of the things that really stood>out though is that the autogen isn't just randomly scattered>about helter-skelter. It is "intelligent" and is aligned with>the roads. Also, look closely to see the manicured lawns,>sidewalks, and other details Hint: lower right corner of>fsx010... Note the DRIVEWAYS even! ;)And look closely at pic #12, on the 2-lane road just below the aircraft. I see cars! I wonder what FSX will look like at night? Note that none of the screenshots are at night.David

Hey Joe,Actually, this just shows that the new XBox 360 controllers will also work on a PC (I believe they will also work on XP, but haven't tried that yet) and that FSX has a default profile to support that controller. There was no XBox 360 involved in that demo in any way, shape, or form :->Tim

I'll pass on the Trees and autogens... I like the water, reflections, shadows and wet runways. IF it utilizes the 64bit OS, Multi core and HT processors.... then that alone, its worth it.

I hope folks are aware that each major site has had unique screenshots distributed to them, so as well as AVSim I understand folks should wander around Flightsim.com, Simflight, Flyawaysimulation, FSInsider and perhaps some others to get more info. Opinions might shift a bit with more info.EDIT: personally I couldn't find any at FSInsider or flyawaysimulation, but I did find shots at the other two sites.Jon
