Four seasons?

I'm concerned that we have X-Plane proponents here who may not like the idea of MSFS having seasons, because this has the potential for sweeping the market. The reason I think this is because there is no good reason to not include seasons day 1. Even a delay of including seasons should not even be on the table.

This kind of thing needs to be tested early with this new engine - if it were the same old ESP it could be more predictable, but this is all new and it needs to be scrutinized early. The same should be said for most basic features like ATC and AI.

I really would hate to see these important features get back burner treatment only to be released with scores of unnecessary issues. There is no sense in aiming for fixes/patches, rather aim for added features after release, not patches!👍

 🙂

How do you know that all of Asobo just did some new for the first time ever. They would knew what to do early and what not. You are Speculating a lot.

You would be correct that I'm not a fly on the wall in the Asobo office, but I plainly heard the interview saying that seasons are not necessarily on the priority list for them. Maybe that is now changed, since the interview, IDK for sure this very moment.

I have been a part of many alpha and beta tests, and I have experience with how fast the testing period is over and so many very important things were not tested enough. I was testing before Asobo existed. Remember Fly! back in 1991? That was among the several disasters I have experienced and will never forget. And how about FSX DX10? All disasters because there was not enough time to find and/or fix the problems.

One does not need to be a developer to know that seasons, with this new method of rendering the world is going to have to be tested in many areas at different times of the year and different weather conditions. If it is not, and there are issues, these could have the potential to get baked into the code and become "how it is", like countless other issues all over this community. I would just like to be certain that this does not happen (for the thousandth time!).

Since the budget allowed for flying a whole bunch of people in real planes to the event and having them all fly an intro flight, hotels n all; I hope we don't hear anything about budget restrictions! 🤑

We may as well care about this now, before its too late...

A fair point - I agree

Everyone should raise their concerns and feature desires sooner rather than later

Well when they strip out something that been a part of the sim for over 20 years I don't get it, I will let you beta test it then IF they implement it some time in the future then I may be interested.

Seeing as they're giving the scenery an overhaul, having to leave out a feature while they rebuild it should not be surprising or cause for concern. Getting the underlying scenery working properly first makes sense to me. Not to mention the final release is still quite some time away.

Understood. But that does not taking away that speculating and using probably very wrong numbers to argument are useless.

This one from your posts counts really:

We may as well care about this now, before its too late...

Why you don´t open a topic/post and ask the Devs IF there a any technicly or other restriction or concern which can let due the fact that seasons are NOT coming?

Simple as that.

AND: I want seasons too but I would also downsize the priority. But that is just my opinion and may everyone see else. Views here are based on experience and we all have different ones. But it has never worked out to be a good plan to "shoot against" something else to become "heard".

Not saying that this counts all for you. But generally spoken.

I'm very disappointed we won't have complex ATC at release, but guess what? I'm going to put on my big boy pants, enjoy what I've got, and offer any assistance I can provide to make the game better.

Anything else is just childish.

There is a time for "big boy pants" you are right. You are also correct, we have it pretty good with the ongoing communication from the MSFS team...unprecedented.

But this topic is not about maturity, this is about whether this community will just settle for less and get just that, or "fight" for what is right and good.

If you look at the "maturity" of the FSW and MS Flight fans (who did not "fight"), look what they got for being accepting of a less than ideal flight sim that no longer lives. I would have loved to become a fan of both FSW and MS Flight, but I could not, until basic long standing standards were met. I fought (like I do now), but not enough of us did I guess, most just ignored.

I will not just take for granted that because MSFS is back that it will be successful "just because". There has to be a realism that exceeds what we already have, or it will not succeed....NO SKIMPING.🧐

There is a time to speak out and deeply care enough to fight (again, not physically) for things, and there is nothing immature about it.

I did:

And its still not a priority as far as we currently know.

I admire your passion. Personally, I feel content with the level of developer interaction, their openness about priorities and most of all, with the feature set of MSFS. While I'm disappointed that several things I care deeply about probably won't be included at release, the developers have addressed their plans to remedy the situation and I'm satisfied that I'll eventually get all the features I want.

I think a lot of people took MS's departure from the genre personally, and now have a little bit of baggage when it comes to their relationship with MSFS. I understand that; I was deeply disappointed. But I'm willing to take MS and Asobo at their word until they've given me a reason to do otherwise.

My personal opinion is that there's no need to "fight" because we all want the same thing.

Good idea! I would also jump into that one and vote for Seasons as I want seasons too. But I don´t care if it comes later (in between 10-12 months or so). But it HAS to come for sure. If not, I would also be realy disappointed.

I could imagine that this whole Bing and Googlemaps thing is also getting accurater. They hopefully implement seasons in their maps as well. I specualte about this that is only a matter of time.

Maybe the guys of asobo know more about that kind of "changes" and/or prepared the sim already for getting seasons implemented.

To add to my last post, after 26 years of simming and amateur scenery development, I gave up on FSX and flight simming in general back in 2011. I uninstalled, sold all my hardware, took my ball and went home. Neither P3D nor XP11, Flight, FSW, or any of the others were the least bit interesting to me.

But THIS? I'm coming out of simulated retirement for this. This MSFS is the thing I went to bed dreaming about when I was six years old and flying FS4. It took 34 years to come true, but now it's here and I honestly can't be bothered by the typical flight simmer cynicism. And that's coming from a professional cynic!

And I am sure you will have further dreams if MSFS is their EVEN with all the things you wanted today.....there will come new dreams....That is normal. "The Sky is the limit"

Well I don´t want either. But as I understood this kind of differences over the world good be handled by using a procedural method which is based on the "ground layer imagery).

But that is my interpretation of some interveiws regarding this topics.
