Read in another commend that the latest FSelite video the cockpit designers mention icing conditions. Makes sense because airframe and carburetor icing can happen anytime of year

In my experience (admittedly limited) that adding new features is exactly what alpha and to some extent beta tests are for, aside from identifying bugs and improving performance?

The new FS 2020 project certainly appears to be a somewhat massive undertaking by Microsoft, especially since it's purportedly going to be geared for both XBOX and PC's...   So it's a little early to jump on the instant gratification train regarding the four seasons.  Personally, I'm confident that MS will include all the seasons in the final product...

De-Icing now will be useless... They might as well remove Piot Heat and all deicing panel switches from all MSFS AC and Add-on ACV cause we will be simming in an alternate universe where the effects of cold weather and icing doesn't exist!

Calm down the drama, it's already been confirmed by one if the preview attendees that icing will feature, and substantially improved on FSX (which sucks terribly btw)

On a side note, if our friend thinks that icing is just a winter thing, he may have some nasty surprise on a rapid descent even in summer. 

As excited as I am for MSFS, no seasons at launch would be a big letdown. I really hope the dev team takes note of the reaction here and prioritizes getting them worked out for launch.

Also it should the thread title should 5 seasons, not 4. FSX is a 5 season simulator. Unless no one is bothered about snow cover.

I doubt the 20 or so people on this thread will have a big enough impact for them to shift 200 developers over to making sure seasons are in place for launch.

I wasn’t aware seasons are not a definite until a few hours ago, and I’m following developments closely. I think it’s a pretty big deal for more than 20 people, given that no seasons is one of the biggest reasons people don’t switch to X-Plane. When folks realize you’re likely to see more of a reaction. But time will tell.

Lack of seasons has always been the biggest complaint concerning photoreal scenery imagery.

Yup, lack of seasons is the main reason why XP11 sits on my HDD untouched while I keep buying addons for P3D...!

So you don't even use XP11 in the summer, when it depicts the season perfectly?

i don't understand this attitude about "if it doesn't have seasons, I won't get it". For a significant part of the year, only having a summer season will not be a drawback for the new sim!

Yes, and the fact that I don’t have the funds to buy multiple addons for both products!

 

I had to chose one for now and seasons was the biggest reason for ME why I’ve put all my horses into P3D....

 

Nothing more satisfying for me than flying out of KBOS in the dead of winter and landing at St Marteen!!!
