December 22, 20196 yr I believe the developer is a member here but has not been active. I would be shocked if he does not support the new flight simulator. Again, it will be totally compatible with MSFS on Day 1 of the MSFS release as MSFS is backward compatible with FSX. It will need a new installer though to identify the new simulator. Asobo have stated that the new simulator will include the legacy FSX Flight Model allow the users to switch between the new & legacy aerodynamics. I don't think that means everything is backwards compatible with the old simulator. Unless you're both talking about something else here? Edited December 25, 20196 yr by highflyer2020

It would be wrong to extrapolate aircraft being backward compatible with everything being backward compatible with the new simulator ergo you can't really say Track IR is compatible with MSFS on day 1.

Something we don't know yet about this FSX aircraft compatibility mode, is what happens with legacy FSX models that depend on software plugins for engine systems and electronics. Those written for FSX will be 32-bit, and the new MSFS is a 64-bit sim. I remember when XP moved from 32 bit to 64 bit, the aircraft designers had to re-compile their plugins to work in the new version. I suppose it's possible the new MSFS will include some sort of automatic conversion to work in a 64 bit environment, but we don't have any information on that yet. I agree with you and was wrong to say day 1 as the link does not indicate Day 1. I put words in the author's mouth. 7 minutes ago, Paraffin said: what happens with legacy FSX models that depend on software plugins for engine systems and electronics. I think they will not be totally compatible as 32 add-ons but I believe the developer's of 64 bit aircraft will try to make them compatible as soon as possible. I personally do not plan on using 32-bit add-ons in the new sim. But I can if I want. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 25, 20196 yr IIRC '2D-panels' will not be supported by MSFS either. Question to panel experts: do 'popup instruments', e. g. a GPS, count as 2D panels or is a '2D panel' defined as the old 2D cockpit? It is also questionable in my opinion if FSX addons like FSUIPC, ChasePlane, PlanG or FSFlyingSchool will work on MSFS without modification. Not to mention FSX scenery, mesh or weather addons. That's interesting because I'm not sure how we'll be able to use our tablets to act as the FMC IIRC they use the 2D popup of the FMC to do that.

Basically the answer to this (TrackIR and others) question should not expected to be announced until march when sdk details are released. That might be shockingly bad news (think livery painting and not much else anytime soon). Edited December 26, 20196 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer
December 27, 20196 yr Trackir has nothing to do with all these phantom predictions. I have absolutely no doubts TrackIr will work with MSFS on release. Thank you.
