Honestly kiddies, it a just a computer game.

No, it's a Flight Simulator!

I don't game, I am not a gamer. I was using FarCry today. It is not a game. It is Combat Simulation.

I wish people would understand I have no interest in gaming. Gaming is for lesser individuals.

I just expressed an opinion - I rest my case.

You expressed an opinion about a poster being attacker while writing "kiddies" and "A few of you need to take a reality check." which was probably the most flame-bated post in the thread so far. I then asked you a question that you chose not to answer. Fair enough.

Really? Saturday detention finished already?

I don't understand threads like this.

It's good to highlight anything missing in order to have it included in future, yes. But to criticise the lack of detail on non-core items at this moment in time is unhelpful as it is pointless.

We've been shown a sim that has:

  • Scenery at a level of detail we could only dream of;
  • Weather and environment that we've been crying out for; and
  • Aircraft dynamics to a standard that we've begged to have.

Most importantly, that is only what has been revealed in-depth so far.

There has also been acknowledgement of including live air traffic, live shipping, and detailed aircraft from small bug smasher to one of the largest passenger jets. VR and seasons are on a to-do list apparently, along with who knows what else.

It probably won't be the sim to end all sims, but it appears to be light years ahead of what we have now. I'm very much looking forward to testing it.

If it has been over-hyped, guess what? We can stay with the sims we currently use.
Doesn't mean we have to complain to all and sundry about how it's failing to meet our needs at this stage of its creation.

I don't do detention, I do Prison Simulation.

It's supossed to be open discussion. We know nothing about the sim. It may be excellent or it may be a total waste of hard drive space. That's the reality. Discussion of any type should not be met with criticism. It's all open.

Open discussion is absolutely perfect if it's approached with an open mind. Opinions are just that, and they change with new information, but that information needs to be based on fact rather than raw emotion, gut feelings or total guesses.

Back to the OP. Microsoft have already stated that they intend to support a wide range of hardware devices. I think it goes without saying that they will support standard interfaces. FSUIPC might be a sticking point, it might not.

Are you lobbying the manufacturers of your hardware to make sure they will be doing all they can to make their kit compatible? You probably spent a lot more $$$ with them than you ever did with Microsoft related to the flight sim and compatibility is a 2 way street.

OMG! How many threads have you read here?

Do i need to count them? What's your real question?

A useful discussion. I’ve the opposite  view than the OP. I hope that the sim will include modules that will render FSUIPC, a glorious stopgap but a stopgap nonetheless, useless. The LM team should have rehabed the physical controls interface long ago. But it is good that every simmer tells Asobo what is important to him or her. There is so many ways we enjoy the game.

@b737800 you never win with trolls. They are better at trolling that you’ll ever be, my friend.

Words of the wise. I lack many things (my ex wife keeps telling me) and wisdom is somewhere near the top of a long list. Appreciate your input on many of these threads.

Except that the opening statements were toys out of pram territory.
It was a lengthier version of "no VR, no buy" / "no seasons, no buy".

Absolutely. For me, there's a way of bringing these issues into the open. Constant slating and undeserved criticism of a product this early in its development is totally different in tone and message to the 'What we want' thread.
That thread came up with lots of suggestions, even for things that we want to see carried over from our current sims.

To be perfectly frank, if what i stated bears fruit, have fun with your 15 dollar MS approved joystick. You really think those of us with close to 10k in hardware are going to throw it all in a closet if incompatible? Get real.

It is not the problem of the simulator developers (ASOBO/MS), but of the hardware manufacturer. FSUIPC was necessary, because the older version of FS do not have an official API for input/output advanced Aircraft control and every aspect of simulation, expect basic flight controller. So third party developers make FSUIPC, which have a non-standard acces to memory used by FS and can online read or change much more parameters of aircraft and simulation during flight. Actual version od FSUIPC certainly will not work with FS2020. But the developers of FS2020 clearly present, that it will be avaiable official detailed API with every I/O for control very advanced aircraft in simulator. So FSUIPC or similar non-standard interace will not be needed anymore, but hardware makers must release a minor software update to redirect I/O data to official API FS2020 instead of FSUIPC. Or maybe FSUIPC's creator can it too.

You are completely not looking beyond your own interests. How is this thread any different from the What we want thread?

The OP is stating what he wants. If people are not falling to their knees with praise every sentence they type for "a product this early in its development" maybe it shows they are looking at things with more of an open mind than others? Don't ya think?

I love the comments of people coming out from their P3D-cave and expecting new games to offer the same things which made sense in P3D but don't make sense in a modern game.

It's a new game, expect new things. If you want the old ones, you can happy stick to what you currently have where you invested so much you have the need to have everything ported over to the new one too.

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
