Guess I misunderstood what the term "media update" means? Wouldn't say so, the roadmap was a bit misleading this time. There was supposed to be a timeline update on the Tech Alpha 2, though due to the delays for the Tech Alpha 1 release they will probably avoid giving out dates from now on. At least it looks like there will be a much bigger update next week.

I enjoyed them, wish they did more It was the last of the presentations they gave at the September event. They've already said they are discussing what further "Discovery" videos will be about, but presumably it'll be a little while before those are ready to start going live.
December 6, 20196 yr The version number on their Development Roadmap seems to be pretty useless. Most of the time it seems to be 2.11 although it was 3.10 at one point. Perhaps they should just remove it. Give people power to really test their personality.
December 6, 20196 yr Didn't understand their media update either. I guess we are now used to more meaty updates that's all. "Weee want braaaiiinn" (meat at least?) Thanks for the update Edited December 6, 20196 yr by Noooch

I gave up long ago using the A2A Cub with floats because of the very poor P3D implementation of the water and interaction between aircraft and water. One thing I wonder is how their 1000-point model will take into account floats in flying the aircraft. December 6, 20196 yr The hint could be they have finished polishing the XCub and its flight model has been approved by their test pilots, just like the Icon update 2 weeks ago.

The way they are coding the flight model gives me a lot of hope for excellent water landings as well. They are simulating many hundreds of lift points all over the plane with regards to the air, if we assume float planes have points simulated on the floats themselves then it should be a trivial thing to model a different fluid acting on those lift points too. At that point transposing water lift to air lift wouldn't be very difficult code wise. The problem with FSX / P3D is that single lift point on the plane determined by center of mass, it just didn't allow for nice air to water transitions. MFS seems to at least provide the framework to make water physics on amphibians finally believable. The fact that the Icon will be a default plane gives me GREAT hope this is the case!
December 6, 20196 yr The good news is that they follow the discussions here and there. As for me, I can't wait to have news about the SDK. This is what makes me (scenery developer) excited and I noticed we will get some SDK news around Dec 19th... Yes looking forward to explore the SDK more than anything else as I am almost certain I won't be part of the Tech Alpha tests (And I never had high expectations either) concidering the volume of applications and concidering the fact that people like me who develop scenery for MSFS since its early SDK days, FS98, are not necessarly the users targeted for an Alpha test... So no problem if I am not part of the Alpha Phase but SDK could be my Christmas Gift please 🙂 Edited December 6, 20196 yr by Claviateur ________________________________LEBOR SIMULATIONSScenery for Flight Simulators since 1998
