14 cores @ 4.7 GHz and then HT on is a No Go because of all the heat.

I have to dial down to 14 cores @ 4.4 GHz to have the same temps..

Do I get it right that you actually prefer extra 300 MHz over HT then?

So you don't use HT in any of your regular flight scenarios? You just play with the number of cores for Prepar3d.exe, right?

When using 8 cores for P3Dv4 I only use a correct AM. I did try with HT on but then I had 16 Lp’s and for my system that did not work out like I hoped it would.

When using a 4-6 core cpu I would use HT for sure.

Now it all makes sense to me. I'm still to decide on HT with my new 9900K @5.3Ghz chip (Direct dye water cooling (no IHS)

Gerard would I be just as well off w/ a 9700K then instead of a 9900K?  Seems like you might be implying this.

I'm not Gerard, but I think 8 cores might be a border case, it's hard to imply if you don't test both HT On/Off on a 9900K. 

Unfortunately I'm too early in the fresh installation to properly test. I can run HT On @5.1GHz under stress easy with my cooling though..

PS: i've burnt my RTX 2080Ti factory-overclocked, so back to GTX 1080Ti until I figure out a way to use 1-year warranty.

This a great advice for a 8-corer judging by so many positive testimonies on these boards, even though it sounds like some voodoo. Has anybody figured out a way to achieve the same without going to the task manager? Also, do you go there when in the startup ui or when in 3D already?

Don't you think that LM would have changed this if there were a benefit...?

Bert, I'll try myself and report. But I tend to trust observations of those respectable characters who reported about the phenomenon. It's an easy one to check. I have no idea what LM would have changed because of it.

Once its loaded. Don't know why P3D starts using 100% of Core 0 but it literally takes me 10 seconds to do. Not a biggie....

So you think LM does everything correctly all the time? Then every new release should be feature adds and no bug fixes then huh? In this case having Core 0 at 100% for say 16 hours straight on my typical long flights...umm, no thanks, don't feel like putting that kinda stress on the cpu day in and day out is good for it.. Seeing and confirming through the W10 Performance Monitor that all 8 cores are nice and balanced works for me. If you think just because LM didn't design it that way must mean it's correct is a very gullible position to take.

I would be more interested in cpu temps before and after..

Heat is the enemy, rather than core utilization..
