Carenado sale

Featured Replies

Carenado has a sale on right now. Do anybody know why X-Plane 11 is not included?

They have been a few sales for P3D but never seen one for X-Plane.

Because they are dumping their P3D stuff because it doesn't sell as well as XP11.  (With the new sim coming out)

That may be true.

I have to admit that I have stop purchasing anything until I see the new sim. Beside I live in Canada and our dollar is so low now. I was looking at Traffic Global $52.99 USD that is $76.34 CND way to expensive for a person that is retired. Will wait for the new sim to see what they offer.

Don't disagree, but isn't "dumping" a concept of inventory (physical)?  LOL!  IP is continuous supply, especially in their case (few updates of prior releases/no unit based production costs).

Yes I figured someone would mention that.  Poor choice of words on my part.  I am not affiliated with them so I'm only guessing that they don't want to put the XP versions on sale because they are still selling well.

The other theory is that the XP versions are actually worth the full price. I have seen XP versions on sale. Give them some time and maybe the XP versions go on sale next week.

MSFS

Their XP ports done by 'Thranda' were certainly a cut above - makes me wonder how good they'll be if they're now doing the ports themselves.

Yep .. what he ^ said ... done in house by ???  now

As someone who has purchased multiple Carenado/Alabeo simulations in the past (including the C90 GTX just last week), I've purchased my last Carenado. The quality of the C90 GTX for X-Plane leads me to believe something has drastically changed within their development group. Visually they are top notch and we all know and except the shortcomings of Carenado simulations when we purchase but this one is by far the most flawed I've personally experienced. The sounds are terrible and the flight modeling made it very difficult to fly. So bad in fact that I've only attempted this simulation the one time. I have many other aircraft I can fly in X-Plane without the frustration of struggling to fly this one. I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced the same.

What many people don't understand is that Carenado do not make, nor pretend to make, 'study level' add-ons. When you buy a Carenado/Alabeo you deep down know what you're buying...Bling. I for one am happy with that. I wouldn't know, like a HUGE majority of folks, what a PC12 or C421  really fly like. Nor do I care that much. They look good and they kid me on that I'm a pilot.

Having said that, my hat's off to people that tweak them. I grab improved FDEs like the rest of you, but I still don't know if it's anything like the real thing. It's an escape from everyday life. I say to my wife, "look at me making a perfect landing" "That's nice dear" she says. Sums it up nicely

A lift from Carenado's website. Seems to me you get exactly what you pay for.

Nowhere can I see they claim to make 'simulations'. FOR simulators, yes.

While I appreciate your comments Ron, I think you completely missed the point of my post. First, a little background regarding my perspective. I’ve purchased 11 addons and 1 expansion pack from Carenado and 3 addons from Alabeo so I feel I have adequate experience with their products to offer a valid opinion. I’ve used the addon label you included from Carenado’s website but I maintain the label simulation is accurate. What is an aircraft addon if not a simulation of a popular real-world aircraft?

I’m well aware these Carenado/Alabeo simulations are not study level and did not purchase any of these with that expectation. I have several study level P3D/X-Plane simulations along with DCS so I understand the differences. I have a number of Carenado twins (incorporating some of the mods created by talented members of our community) which I fly quite often.

Referring to your website lift, Carenado states their goal is to “recreate a simplified flight experience simulation but very close to reality”. Fair enough, I have no issue with that statement to the extent my expectation of a simulation approaches the reality of what the simulation actually delivers. When the reality of my experience falls far short of my expectations (understanding the realistic limitations of the product) it is very disappointing. As I mentioned, I would like to hear the experiences of others that have purchased this simulation. I’m curious to know if you’ve flown this one. If so, what was your experience like?

Like you I have no sense of what it’s like to actually pilot most of these complex simulations. I fly these simulations because I enjoy it. As additional background, I do have a private license with some personal experience flying Piper’s and Cessna’s along with a few hours in a Bonanza which I consider totally irrelevant to the King Air C90 GTX conversation at hand.

Anyway, my point was to relate my experience with my most recent Carenado purchase, the C90 GTX for X-Plane and my concern regarding the quality of the product I purchased. I was simply expressing my personal opinion. I have read several posts recently regarding changes within their development team. This information along with my experience using this particular simulation has led me to question the value of future purchases. I welcome a future patch release that brings this particular simulation up to a level of value equivalent to some of Carenado’s previous releases I currently own but for now, I’ll keep this one in the hanger. A shame really, I really enjoy King Airs!
