April 15, 20206 yr I run Win 7 x64, P3Dv5 runs on Win 7 64bit, I just experience crashes on my Nvidia 1080 Ti, but it is not related to Win 7 as Win 10 users experience it also, Rado Rado i7 4770K@4,1Ghz HT on since release of MSFS1080 Ti 11GB 32GB DDR3 RAMSamsung SSDs
April 15, 20206 yr You should probably start thinking about switching to 10. It's only going to get harder for you to enjoy the latest software. I don't even think they will offer you official support considering Windows 10 is on the requirements for V5 and no mention of 7. Which means you aren't following their minimum requirement and they would just direct you to that. April 15, 20206 yr It does have a folder in the P3D root called "D3D12onWin7", think those a compatibility / port libraries. So I think it should work on Windows 7. A LM staff member replied back saying it looks like you don't fit the min system specs criteria and also mentioned they have a 14 day refund policy. So sure, it may work but I don't think they are going to officially support it. April 16, 20206 yr Installer didn’t generate any warning, so it shouldn’t be that problematic. I didn’t run into any issues with Win 7 on my P3D v4.5 and all addons I have installed in. So I’m not going to upgrade to Win 10. With new PC and MSFS I will go for Win 10, of course. Rado Rado i7 4770K@4,1Ghz HT on since release of MSFS1080 Ti 11GB 32GB DDR3 RAMSamsung SSDs
April 16, 20206 yr Author Thank you for your help. Rado, i'm in the same case like you. (and i don't need Win10 for the moment for my work).😐
April 16, 20206 yr What I did was to make a new partition for Win10 and dual boot Win7 (for everything other than P3D), Seems to work fine. when I build a new PC next year, I'll go fully Win10 but don't want to spend time reinstalling all other applications until the new PC. June 13, 20205 yr Author Just for info, I have tried P3Dv5 with Win7x64, but it is not working. Even by copying the 3 DLL files in the root of Prepar3D. I got the nice DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error like many people. What a pity, it's sad. End of story. Edited June 13, 20205 yr by StephaneS
