What are the potential negative impacts you are afraid of? What worries you about people expressing thanks? Are you afraid this will make Asobo want to botch the release? Or are you just annoyed by positivity in general? Well, they must feel a bit silly seeing people so grateful before the game is even released and the customers have had a chance to form their honest opinion. As for being grateful of the content that's been shared: That's standard game marketing these days and marketing side is probably not Asobo's responsibility at all. That falls down to the publisher's role.

What are the potential negative impacts you are afraid of? What worries you about people expressing thanks? Are you afraid this will make Asobo want to botch the release? Or are you just annoyed by positivity in general? 1. Not a problem. 2. No potential negative impact that I'm 'afraid' of at all.. (my friends would wet their pants if they thought I was thanking game designers, they know I have a life) 3. Why on earth would ASOBO want to botch a release? 4. Positivity? Seriously? I'm thankful that I'm still healthy during Covid, Very positive about that, but for a game? I hope that explains a bit about how I feel about fawning over a alpha incomplete release. Maybe that's a new way to try get ASOBO to grant alpha access? LOL.... As Kopteeni says, it's probably NOT even ASOBO, but their marketing/publisher/advertiser's role. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... June 9, 20206 yr You are aware what happened to MS's previous sim release, with no publicity at all? This is all about not making the same mistake & all about making money & keeping their shareholders happy. It's very much about them sharing their advertising. Their game franchises have always done very well, over 60 million per month. They have a bad recent flight sim history, hence their advertising (generous sharing) It has been unknown for any game franchise to release so many teasers before. MSFS needs as much as they can do. What they've shown is strictly curated short glimpses of the game to demonstrate its features. We've only been shown a couple of second flashes of the actual gameplay. and when the going has gotten really interesting they've speeded the game up to 5x.

Not just for how well that the team is putting the simulator together, but for how they are so open, sharing so much, and just for being... them! Several younger generation don't seem to get it and some take this sharing for granted. I started "simming" back in the sub Logic days, and for every iteration of FS development I could ever remember, there was little to NO information about the pending releases... How exciting and fun this has been to follow along in the development of the new Flight Simulator by Microsoft! Kudos Asobo and Microsoft, and THANK YOU! June 9, 20206 yr Yes, I'm sure we all do appreciate what their marketing department is doing, and also appreciate that if they have not being doing it, the sim would go down the tubes like Flight did. So, it's not really for us, what they are doing, but it's for their shareholders. If they do not advertise what they are doing, & generate interest, no sales, & we know what happened then. The public roadmap would constitute as openness to me. The only thing I can conclude from the published screenshots is that MSFS can look good when things are not in motion. They've been really shy on showing us actual gameplay. I've been wondering why. Perhaps it's because the scenery is suffering from terrain morphing and autogen popping issues. We've seem some of this is non curated leaked videos. At the end of the day they release content for us in an effort to market the game. The amount of content they share is up to the standards of game marketing in 2020.
June 9, 20206 yr I'm under the assumption that ASOBO is the development team under the watchful eyes of Microsoft - ya know ,the ones who hired them. So I don't think MS wants this rather expensive and hyped project to get botched at the starting gate. It's hard to believe I started-out this little hobby 25 years ago when a co-worker gave me a floppy disc with MSFS Version 1, and later, Ver. 2. - I was totally hooked after that. Plenty of successful products are released in this genre without extensive reveals beforehand. In fact most simply show an occasionally picture every few weeks, if that. There have been enough leaks, not to mention hints from Alpha testers that if there were a serious problem, we would almost absolutely have heard about it by now. This is not to even mention the initial reveal when people were invited from all over the world to look at the sim, and even skeptics came away impressed. Any alternative narratives have much less proof supporting them than the copious amounts of freely given info from the developers. In fact, as someone who actually is in the alpha, I often have to bite my lip on some of the sky-is-falling nonsense posted on here by people who apparently have nothing else to do.
