June 9, 20206 yr I was just reflecting on the latest June 4th update on the official FS website, looking at all those great screenshots, reading about the latest development, and thinking to myself "what an awesome dev group we have today with Asobo, how are we so lucky?" Not just for how well that the team is putting the simulator together, but for how they are so open, sharing so much, and just for being... them! Several younger generation don't seem to get it and some take this sharing for granted. I started "simming" back in the sub Logic days, and for every iteration of FS development I could ever remember, there was little to NO information about the pending releases... How exciting and fun this has been to follow along in the development of the new Flight Simulator by Microsoft! Kudos Asobo and Microsoft, and THANK YOU! Long time FS user and Fan
June 9, 20206 yr I agree totally! I also used the very first flight simulators on Commodore 64, Apple II and PC, and was excited to see each new version (and purchase it!) from subLogic and Microsoft, then Lockheed Martin! Keeping the fab base informed as they have done is not only great PR, but gives us all confidence that this time the development team really are making a huge stride forward, and the wait is going to be worthwhile. As an aplha tester, I can assure you that the improvements are coming thick and fast, and the quality of default scenery is outstanding, default airports are much better than any earlier version, and the default aircraft are getting much closer to some of the payware we already know and love. Yet there is plenty of scope for third party developers to continue making a living from the new platform! Quite a fine balancing act and a fabulous achievement if you want my opinion! Cheers, Brian Cheers, Brian L Robinson Flight Simmer since 1983 - loving the brilliant Quality Wings 787 and all PMDG models!!
June 9, 20206 yr Just passing by also to give my appreciation to Asobo and MS. MS because of the direction given to Asobo. They clearly decided to make a true flight simulator this time. And Asobo because of an excellent execution. Honestly, at this point it exceeded all my wildest expectations I had for a new Flight simulator.
June 9, 20206 yr Moderator I think this new version is appreciated more by our older crowd who’ve been using sims since the first version came out back in the early 80’s and can appreciate how far we’ve come. Some of the younger people here might have grown up with FS9 or FSX and will still appreciate it as well but maybe not as much as those of us that flew the subLogic version that was wire frames and had like 10 FPS if we were lucky. Back then, I would have given anything for a sim that looked like this. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

June 9, 20206 yr I‘ve just noticed that today is the anniversary of the announcement trailer. Wouldn‘t that be a good occasion for little extra treat (eg. a longer video)? Just an idea. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2

FS20 is the sim what we were dreaming for in these days. Now, then again, I say that for each version 🤣 ! June 9, 20206 yr So sweet thanking a game developing company to giving some us us an unfinished alpha release (so far) & releasing teasers. Seriously? I wonder if this is unique to Avsimmers that they thank game developers for forthcoming games? I wonder if the train guys thanked Dovetail for their train simulators. Again, Seriously????? June 9, 20206 yr What's not unique to Avsim but pretty rampant throughout the community is negativity, cynicism, curmudgenlyness and a general get-off-my-lawn you word not allowed gamer/kids crustiness. Perhaps new people drawn in by Msfs will open some windows and let in a bit of fresh air, as its gotten a bit stale. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... Seriousy, why do you care? Is it better to spread a negative attitude? June 9, 20206 yr I actually do care, as , apart from many other sim sites I'm a member of, only here is this fawning of gratitude is shown. Quite disappointing how times have changed here.. Yes, I do actually read these threads, interesting posts indeed. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
June 9, 20206 yr But can you explain to us in what way, shape or form the fawning of gratitude is a problem? What are the potential negative impacts you are afraid of? What worries you about people expressing thanks? Are you afraid this will make Asobo want to botch the release? Or are you just annoyed by positivity in general? MSFS.
