Occupy Redmond - MSFS Edition

Featured Replies

OK, guys, I'm sure that just like me you don't like what you're hearing about this new "sim":

1. Lack of quality planes i.e. NO 737.

2. Possibly subscription only. OK, Asobo said this was false, but corporations lie.

3. Called Microsoft Flight SIMULATOR, but is actually an X-box game, GOOD TRY MICROSOFT!!!

4. As those of you in the Alpha will know, the trees are the wrong size, to the point that I can not deal with MSFS for one day more.

Many of you have forgotten that we at Avsim managed to get Microsoft Flight cancelled through a people-powered movement called "Occupy Redmond" that started back in early 2012. It was originated by a guy called Dighost, who - to the best of my knowledge - ended up in GTMO because of this. Thankyou, Dighost, for your service.

Although mega-corporation Microsoft has tried to get the memory of this campaign scrubbed from the internet, traces of it remain on the Dark Web and in the Avsim archives:

So, I am taking this opportunity to implore you to join me in a new Occupy Redmond movement. The manifesto is effectively the same as last time:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Occupy Redmond v2 is a people-powered movement that began on July 1st 2020 in the Avsim forums and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally (or at least it likely will soon).

#OR2 is fighting back against the corrosive power of Microsoft and multinational corporations over the democratic simulation-development process, and the role of Microsoft in creating a reality collapse that has caused the greatest sim-recession in generations. The movement is inspired by popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia (both partially due to unhappiness with Asobo forgetting to put VR in and/or neglecting the 737).

We aim to fight back against the stupidest 1% of people that are willing to play this 'game', thereby foreclosing on our future. The occupations around the world are being organized using a non-binding consensus based collective decision making tool known as a "sim-geeks' assembly".

To learn more about how to use this process to organize your local Avsim community to fight back against flightsim injustice, just google the interweb.

As our now-departed leader (press "F" to pay respect) said back in '12:

"Maybe if we all go set up our tents on the Microsoft Redmond campus, we can invoke a change in Flight. We can huddle in groups-- the FSX guys on one side and the FS9 guys on the other side. We can setup a network and sip on hot chocolate while we play flight sim. Maybe a group of Xplane guys will come and beat the drums for us."

So, yeah. Remember: WE ARE THE 99%...who will not play MSFS. WE ARE LEGION...we do no forgive...we do no forget. EXPECT US.

Cheers, and hope to see y'all at Redmond just as soon as you can get there.

Solidarity Forever!

Why not. Protesting seems to be en vogue right now anyway.

Personally, I'd like to be able to watch TV through peoples window in photogrammetry cities. If not - screw them!

Happy with MSFS 🙂
home simming evolved

Since we are protesting what can we destroy while we are at it?

Be sure to wear your masks!  We are now starting to see the results of the "last protest"!  Damn those trees!!!

As I couldn't be bothered writing a full, new manifesto - ain't nobody got time for that - the one I've presented here has a bit of an "Arab Spring" vibe to it. Hope that's still OK!

OzW,

"Methinks you doth protest too much"...

And methinks you do not protest enough. Anyway, is occupying the campus of one corrosive multinational corporation every eight years or so too much? No, I didn't think so.

Come and join us, you need to bring your own tent and cocoa, plus a sign with something witty/angry/edgy written on it.

It's OK, this protest is Avsim Mod approved - as long as you wear a mask.

See you in Redmond.

Solidarity Forever!

P.S. Rumour has it that the first 10 people to sign up will get alpha access, as long as we change the theme to more of an anti-Laminar Research message.

Your choice. Does the Seattle area have any statues of Steve Ballmer we could pull down?

OK...I am all in. We need to make lots of signs that say "Defund Microsoft!!"
