Taking a hiatus from FSIM until the EA beta element is sorted. Vanilla v5 non EA looks rubbish IMHO, and without the ability to fully alter the shaders I can't stand the look. The new atmospherics are superb but miles away from being fully usable. The lack of a modelled CB is pretty poor IMHO.

HiFi have tried to work with the platform but the development needs of v5 hold their product back.

Wish I had kept my v4 install now lol but didn't have the SSD space.

Still think v5 is a wonderful step forward, albeit lacking maturity. Can only hope we don't have to wait another 6 months for. 1

It's pretty bad when the head honcho at places like PMDG say this:

"My personal opinion (for legal reasons unrelated to my position at PMDG) is that they should have sat on v5 for another year and done the job properly, rather than handing us this half-bag of partially baked croissants. They may be all fluffy on the outside, but the inside is a mushy mess that nobody really wants to eat."

In fairness I would say that must “want to eat them”. There is a reason so many of us have moved to v5. Better performance and better graphics. But I totally agree they need to fix some bug stuff. I’m happy with v5. But can still see significant things I want fixed

It never ceases to amaze me, in all the years that I have been flightsimming, this same discussion occurs after every release of the main sim. I could cut/paste posts from years ago and just change the date and it would essentially fit right in.

Personally, I just deleted V4.5 from my main system. V5 has it's issues but, for me, n one are show stoppers. There will ALWAYS be those who's hardware/software configuration breaks compatibility with the sim. That's just the way of life. Overall I've seen that V5 is very well accepted and people are moving forward and enjoying the experience.

I like it.

I’m in the process of dismantling v4 now after HF2, uninstalling all my v4 addons before axing the main program.

Active Sky update working well here, no noticeable performance impact.

Well Vic you have always users that are still on the older simulators (for example FS9) and I'm not surprised because it's the human nature and to hold on what they know and no changes  😉

Hence indeed we could repeat the same messages from FS95 > FS 98 > 2000 > 2002 >2004 > 2006 and all the P3D incarnations...

For me personally V4.5 left the building and V5 is a huge step forward despite still some bugs are there... But as you say no showstoppers, not even close here local...

Really like V5 🙂

Fine!  Is the weather changing smooth?  No abrupt cloud change?

Nope, still the change. I don't think this is necessarily AS's fault but probably EA's.

(Non EA Mode) is the key word here 😉 as seen page 27 of "ActiveSky P3D User's Guide"

Yes, the half-baked croissants taste pretty good to me, too.

People complain that it seems unfinished - uh, chaps, perhaps that’s why it is an optional beta feature.

I’m very pleased that LM gave us the opportunity to fly with it if we wish, as most of the time it looks great.
