Wifi or cable connection?

Featured Replies

Do I need to run MS flight sim 2020 with cable from the modem or will Wifi work well enough? I have 250/200 mbps with 5ms ping over my Wifi.

The specs from Microsoft state 50 Mbps is the maximum needed, and information from others indicates 10 Mbps will generally be enough for a good result. Ping is irrelevant to scenery, only for multiplayer. Wifi will not be the limiting factor, your internet connection will be.

You can run gigabit 1000 Mbps ethernet if you want, but not much use if you connect it to dial up though...

As long as the results from your speed test meet the requirements it shouldn't make much of a difference. A wired connection will always be ideal, but you can get extremely fast wireless connections with a good router and Wi-Fi chipset on your motherboard.

I'm connected to LAN via a pair of CPLs, works quite well.

I have my fiber connected directly through cable. Might not really be faster, but it sure seems more stable etc... then WiFi. Most people probably aren't that close to the router/modem and have to use WiFi?

I have my home fiber connected to a wireless router and get full 250mbs wireless to my laptop, I can connect a cable from the router if I like, but I wonder if it was necessary as I prefer to avoid cables in my home, the computer I will build for flight sim has the latest Wifi technology.
