Notable Weather Events for MSFS Storm Chasers

Hurricane Laura is now rapidly intensifying ahead of its landfall on the Gulf Coast which should happen tomorrow.

The storm already shows a pronounced eye on the current IR satellite pictures, and in the sim, it might be one of the most interesting weather phenomena to check out since release.

anyone has a screenshot of Laura from sim? Live weather is still not working, that will be a proof)

I'm currently heading out there now, this is the view out to the Gulf.

A bit further out and whitecaps are starting to form, the clouds are more defined in the distance as well. I'm going to grab something a bit faster though and try and get right out into it.

I checked it out last evening and again this morning, and the storm was definitely there, and quite impressive already. I'll fly over there again in a few hours to check out the eye.

Winds aloft are a bit inconsistent currently. Outside of active weather systems, I usually only get the 225@3 standard wind. When I entered the Hurricane rain bands, however, I had very strong winds at 30.000 feet.

I live northeast of Dallas.  I probably won't get a chance to check it out much as I'll almost certainly lose electricity.  Too much Real World for my taste! 😄

This is so exciting. I'm gonna go after Laura in the TBM or the C172. I want to do some sight seeing out in the gulf. It's amazing how we can all do this in a flight sim these days! So excited and even a bit nerve wrecking doing so in a virtual world.
