A word on settings. These are my specs, which are fairly middle of the road: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 4.2 32 gig ram, NVidia 1060 6 gig, Intel 760 SSD M2 NVMe 512 gig, Crucial MX500 SSD. All I'll say is this DO NOT expect to run FS in 2/4k unless you have at least a 2080. My 1060 sings along at 100fps + on Ultra settings, but try anything higher than 1920 x 1080 and it becomes a SS. Most of the complaints I have seen are from people trying to run at a higher res than their machine can handle.

There's an interesting YT by Q8 Pilot demonstrating what various graphics settings do to the game.

Music to my ears. I have a 1070 overclocked with 8 Gb VRAM and will only be at 1080p. Thanks for your information.

from everything i've seen I don't even think the 2080ti does well in 4k with this sim.  Although some of you may have different standards for smoothness.

Most of us will have to use the resolution scale for 4K to bump it down.

Unless your PC is absolutely loaded to the hilt, I just don't see why anyone would be running in 4k at the moment.

Depends on your monitor. If you have a 55 inch 4K monitor in front of you you don't want to run it at less than 4K.

That's like saying if you have a 80' 8k monitor you don't want to run it at less that 8k.

I mean that you can't really be surprised in todays market that any computer game/sim will suffer performance degredation if you're running at 4k. On anything other than the absolute best hardware available, 4k is not a sensible option if you prioritize performance.

@2reds2whitesMaybe I missunderstood your point. I just wanted to make clear that there can be a reason why someone wants to use 4K. Less than that on a large screen 50 cm in front of you just doesn't look good.

I am totally with you that we can't expect the sim to easily run on ultra at 4K, so I am prepared for some compromises. Hopefully render scaling will help a lot.

This ain't a FPS this is a simulator so don't expect your Gucci computer to play it in full settings at crazy res.  There's a few drama queens that obviously have nothing else in their life than their computer so are getting upset about x, y or z.

Tweak the sim to how you like it. Some don't care that it runs at 15fps on finals onto Heathrow on full settings or others set 30fps as their baseline. That's part of the fun right?

That's why they have the scale slider.

The problem is that everyone is obsessed with running in ultra and their system can't handle it. Right now @ 4k with a 10700k, 2080 super, 32gb ram, I get 50-60 fps on high end settings and 30 in the big jets @ nyc. Just built this computer over the weekend. If I can get get 30 fps in the pmdg I'm nyc, then I'm good to go

...and just when we thought that stutters were a distant memory. How thoroughly refreshing
