August 14, 20205 yr to those who don't understand why people would run in 4k. It is very possible. I've done it successfully in P3DV4 and now V5 very nicely. I have a 43" TV directly in front of me. I also lock my frames at 30 and have spent time finding the best settings for my setup. I have virtually complete smoothness and am able to maintain 30 easily. However it won't be possible with my current hardware in MSFS from what I've seen in alpha and from other users youtube uploads. I'm hoping the new 3000 nvidia beast will change that, but we will see. @Slides are there any steps for the resolution scale? Or do you just launch MSFS and select 1440 for resolution. I've heard in the past running 1440p on a 4k screen like mine isn't ideal, but it's what I'm going to do. I just want to make sure I do it properly. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
August 14, 20205 yr This is the same issue I have - 50" screen for P3D that runs fine....although honestly I still get stutters at EGLL, KJFK with very low frame rates. I am expecting that I can run at the same resolution and then dial down the settings until I reach something I can live with. My card is a 1080Ti. By the way this is actually a good sign, if the sim is stressing current hardware to a small degree at the start then we are in great shape as it develops over time. Just remember the total nightmare of previous releases like FSX on 2008 hardware. Edited August 14, 20205 yr by MarkW Mark CYYZ

I mean that you can't really be surprised in todays market that any computer game/sim will suffer performance degredation if you're running at 4k. On anything other than the absolute best hardware available, 4k is not a sensible option if you prioritize performance. I have a 77" 4k TV and i am using it for any kind of game but i can barely remember i have played anything in 4k. I think Death Stranding is the first game i tried in 4k. Everything else runs on 1080p and some upscaling if desired. Overall it works like a charm! August 14, 20205 yr Two settings to experiment with in the sim: RENDER SCALING - Adjust the resolution independent of your monitor settings - For instance, if you have the monitor set at 1080P and you could squeeze more resolution (upscaling) without adjusting the monitor. Default is 100 TERRAIN LEVEL OF DETAIL - High settings (default is 100) , Ultra is 200 - You can adjust independently Edited August 14, 20205 yr by joec63 Semper Fi

There's a slider in the graphics settings in the game. It will upscale back to 4K after rendering at a lower resolution. I hear 70% is near imperceptible when upscaled to 4K. August 14, 20205 yr i have an empty ssd 1tb only for the new fsx 32gb ram rtx2080ti msi trio i7 8700k and good internet connection (8oo mbps download 200 mbps upload) but i think if i will put all setting to max the temperature in the case will be crazy so i will try to get the good compromise between quality/performance fps Edited August 14, 20205 yr by Gino Frozen
August 14, 20205 yr I'm wondering what effects limited internet bandwidth has on graphics. I mean its pretty obvious it will have "an" effect, but not sure exactly what it is at this point. I have limited internet (20Mbps) and in my Beta testing, I set the internet in the data settings to 20Mbps and almost always have an interruption or error. No one really talks about this effect. With slower internet connections, latency is a real concern i think. Anyway, thanks for listening. My internet is around 16/17Mbps so does that mean I have to use a set 5Mbps? Also what about downloading the area in which you wish to fly and storing to ssd? I have seen this talked about but have not seen any of the testers using the sim this way. Anyone know if it is possible? Mick

In my testing, I think this is the only way to get a download. Ive set mine to 30GB, but it probably needs to be more like 100GB, but its not really clear how this is used. That's right, because 1440p won't divide exactly into 2160p (the result is 1.5, which means some rendered pixels get split across two physical pixels and thus you are reliant on the quality of the scaler in your display device to avoid horrible blur and jaggies). Whereas 1080p will divide into 2160p perfectly, each rendered pixel is displayed across 4 physical pixels in the display. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
