August 18, 20205 yr Agreed with the sentiment here... No way I'm uninstalling P3D. Keep FS2020 on Xbox Game Pass and maybe in a year or so buy, once stuff is tweaked and there's study level content. In fact the 60 bucks I had earmarked, has gone on the new Xtreme P Lear 25 v3 for P3D ! 😃👍👍👍 BTW ... for anyone annoyed with poor map featured; try "Little Nav Map". Free, networkable and brilliant !

With improvements I mean things we haven't really had in FSX/P3D yet: Proper clearances, improved phraseology, maybe even voice recognition, etc. Wasn't intentionally trying to twist anyone's words. I was just curious, was all. Fair enough.
August 18, 20205 yr I'm not understanding how this can be any surprise whatsoever. Like 3 weeks ago it was still alpha... I'm still waiting for the new Geforce and Ryzen Generations to be released and until then they hopefully fix a lot.
August 18, 20205 yr I can live with most of the bugs. What I can't live with is missing airports due to subpar sattelite data. The quality of the images should not influence whether an airport gets modelled at all. I just started exploring and already found 3 airports missing. EDDS Stuttgart. An international airport in the 6th largest city of one of the leading industrial nations...completely missing. PAVD Valdez... not there PAWD Seward also not there. All of them share the commanilty that the imagery is either bad or censored. Why has that any bearing on whether a developer models the airport? This is supposed to have ALL airports in the world.
August 18, 20205 yr I can totally understand the let down some of you are experiencing and much of it is based on being knocked nearly unconscious by the eye-candy (understandable). However, we still have to remember that this is a v1 product and, as such, it's pretty damned amazing. Yes, there are lots of things that need addressing. I'm getting hammered in other threads for pointing out some bugs and concerns, but I also get the impression from the work level so far that Asobo isn't going to just sit on their hands and leave things as they are. The big mistake now would be if we're all sitting here next year with no major updates to this product. Then I'd say it's a disaster, but I really don't think that's likely. As far as reviewers go, having been a columnist/reviewer/editor and publisher in the industry, I can tell you that 90% of reviewers have no ability to review something like this realistically. They see the graphics and see the obvious stuff, fly around a bit and that's it. 10/10 review. That's not something Asobo "tricked" them into doing. It's jut the nature of the beast and something I wish consumers would be more aware of. Nearly all of us here go back many years or even decades with our experience in this realm and there's just no way someone who spends two weeks (if that) with a product is going to be able to see it from our perspective. There's a bunch here I wish they got to. I cannot, for example, understand how this product shipped when the flight controls are locked whenever your mouse is over another window, but things like that happen, especially on a product of this scope. I'm sure if you ask Asobo, off the record, they likely would have preferred to have more time to get the kinks worked out, but the publisher always has another agenda. That's also the nature of the beast. Again, let's see where we are in 3 months, 6 months and a year. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. This is the worst sim to ever launch, none of the planes work, it's an arcade game, and it also insulted my wife upon launching. This is nothing. Microsoft Flight Sim turned me into a newt! August 18, 20205 yr Agile methodology. They bring us the bike before the car. But months earlier. Time to time mates, updates will come, like W10: one good other worst but deal whith it, its a new product that need to mature.

Granted, this was from the bozos on this forum talking trash in the P3D forums, so it's not really Microsoft's fault, but all the jerks over there trashing P3D and telling us all how you're quitting flight sim until this comes out did not do MS any favors. Just saying. It will, give it time.

The marketing has been top notch. Have you not seen the YouTube reviews where the reviewer gets a Honeycomb yoke, Thrustmaster TPR pedals etc etc to "help them review"? (one was posted yesterday here, for example). At any rate, it's hardly a secret that major studios influence reviewers at times to assist with their marketing campaigns. Secondly, the alpha test was very successful marketing. A group of people felt they had a special secret, and kept hinting all year that MSFS was going to be the One Sim to Rule Them All. It's made some of the Avsim forums incredibly annoying for the past 12 months, but it's good use of human psychology! Two days ago, people here were becoming enraged when you mentioned that keeping more than one sim made sense, and that P3D and X-Plane were not dead. MSFS seemed to become a religion for some. Now, we see the reality. What is this reality? Well, it's a really interesting new approach to scenery generation, and the graphics overall are top-notch. As a sightseeing sim, it's first class. I've been having a heap of fun with it in the past 24 hours+, but I'm taking it for what it is. I'm also not going to being deleting X-Plane or P3D v5 any time soon (which is, I think, a much less controversial suggestion than it was 2 days back!) When FSX essentially died, I tried to like P3D, but found it cartoonish so I switched over to X-Plane around v9 and stayed through v10 and v11. In all honesty after experiencing all the good and bad of the last 12 hours, I cannot fathom going back to X-Plane now. It'd be like leaving a small, cramped apartment with no closets for a wind-torn tent in the middle of the desert. Just isn't going to happen. Things will improve. The question now is how long? i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.
