August 18, 20205 yr Terrain slopes up to the river. You can even spot a casino inside the river. Only if this was fixed when people reported the bugs.
August 18, 20205 yr Yikes, that looks bad. Other places are missing large international airports (EDDS). Looks like they couldn't be bothered to act upon the user feedback. Oh well, they said they would develop it further, right?
August 18, 20205 yr Author Yeah, I'm sure updates to come. Things like these were reported in multiple different cities unfortunately.

EDDS is missing because it is deliberately blurred out in Bing Maps, which apparently is true of several airports in Germany that have any military components, and is probably at the request of the German government.. That said, it could certainly be hand-built from scratch without using Bing assets, like the other custom airports. I’m surprised Asobo did not do that, because the problem has been known for a long time, but maybe other issues took priority. I’m sure a 3PD will offer EDDS if Asobo does not add it themselves in a future update. Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. August 18, 20205 yr There are obviously plenty of these glitches, as far as AI is advanced these days it still needs to learn and be trained a lot before producing the best results 🙂 Improvements will come with the future world updates.

It is indeed missing from Bing maps, but I'm not buying the explanation yet, since it's not blurred out in Google Maps. Curiously Ramstein Air Base isn't blurred out in Bing either. Whatever it is, disappointing not to have it from the get-go. Good for JustSim/Digital Aviation though, since they have made an addon scenery for EDDS that they will be able to sell.
August 18, 20205 yr I love how the word "never" is used in the title. This isn't Excel 95. It will be updated regularly, and you will receive those free updates as they are released. And if you have been watching these forums, you'll know that they have higher priority issues to deal with than the Missouri River right now. They had an alpha test. Then added more people to the beta. Now we are all testers. Use their forums to give them feedback on what needs to be addressed. That is a much better use of your time than coming here to do it. Unless of course you have another purpose for doing so.

I went to Ascension Island in the Atlantic to land on WideAwake Airbase, which is where the Shuttle would have landed if it encountered a problem, and the entire airport was missing. You just explained why! 😂 Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

We did and left support tickets. I usually buy a game/sim to use it, not test it. I have been watching these forums. Real world weather doesn't work or isn't accurate. Take it or leave it I guess. Feedback is feedback. Edited August 18, 20205 yr by dahsteak
August 18, 20205 yr The River Thames, one of the most famous rivers in the world has had these issues since alpha & still does. But that goes part and parcel with how bad London currently looks in the sim. It's disappointing but I'm sure things will be improved after the general launch issues/bugs

Perhaps they were working on areas in the sim that affect everyone rather than a few square miles of earth 99% of users will not visit and notice. Edited August 18, 20205 yr by sanh
August 18, 20205 yr Is this the old " rivers are flat" problem? if the sim requires that all bodies of water are flat, rivers that naturally flow downhill are going to have an issue somewhere, plenty of examples of that over the years in fsx/p3d. not an easy thing to fix.

T At least two German NATO AFB are given in full details by Bing, Ramstein (!) and Spangdahlem and I don't remember that Stuttgart was on the list of strategic assets 😏. This is weird. 2 hours ago, WestAir said: That explains so much. You just explained why! 😂 The Bing map of the island is entirely blurry but the GE is quite good including Wideawake. Bing's management of its portfolio is somewhat bizarre. I remind you that GE and Bing license their imagery from 3rd party companies, and that there is no reason why Bing should be bad when GE is good. August 18, 20205 yr I think Asobo is planning to go directly to third party sources for it's region updates. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub
August 18, 20205 yr 3 hours ago, JRBarrett said: and is probably at the request of the German government.. That has nothing to do with the german government. If it did then Cologne/Bonn would be blurred as well, as would be Berlin Tegel. Not to mention those places would be blurred in Google Maps as well. But Stuttgart Airport is even available in full photogrammetry over there. Whatever the reason, it has nothing to do with military secrecy.
