August 21, 20205 yr It seems pretty clear that MSFS 2020 was designed with consoles in mind, plugged into a large screen television, It's gamepad ready. Gone is the clunky interface, gone are the stale menus of FSX/P3D. It looks polished, and it looks like someone actually paid attention to UI design. I'm hoping the game will bring in a new, fresh crowd of simmers with their own ideas and thoughts of how to improve MSFS. I feel a fresh wind blowing through the forums. Fresh voices, not only the same old same old crowd that's been on here for 20 years. I hope that - after fixing the bugs - Asobo and Microsoft focuses on immersion rather than catering to the button-pusher and knob-switcher crowd. To be honest, I haven't be that excited about a flight simulator since the day I ran to a BestBuy in Washington DC and bought a copy of Terminal Reality's Fly! Edited August 21, 20205 yr by Ricardo41

What's "immersion" mean to you? To me, it's realism... which likely includes pushing some buttons and turning knobs. 🙂

To be fair, this is exactly what some people need to feel immersed. It should be their goal to cater to as many users as possible. I can agree the UI is quite good though.
August 21, 20205 yr Between having to "Press Any Key" on PC and the terrible control config screen, they have some work to do on the UI. Going into this, I expected the UI to undergo some console-ization, but jeez...

For the record we all are button pushers, and enjoy the simulator 😉 Edited August 21, 20205 yr by awf André
August 21, 20205 yr It can serve two masters. The button pushing updates should be outsourced to 3PDs. Asobo should focus on it's core strength. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub
August 21, 20205 yr I like it also. The main thing is this is a platform. So if its to Gamey or not enough Simy for some, it's not really a bad thing because the sky is the limit when it comes to add-ons. All I know is I am sucked in, the immersion is better than FSX/P3D. I haven't had this much fun since I was a kid and had an imagination to go along with FS, now the graphics are so real I don't need an imagination to be immersed. Wow - that's truly bold in this forum, being the Mekka for button pushers 🙂 But if both groups can be happy they will have a winner for sure. The problem is that they might understand after the reactions here post release that the button pushers don't really care if you add 200 pushable buttons. If just one of them produces a non desirable result, all is moot 🙂 Ryzen 9800X3D | Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX MB | 64GB 6000Mhz DDR5 | RTX 5080 GPU | Windows 11 Pro x64 | Virpil T-50 Throttle | T50 CM2 Grip + WarBRD | VKB T-rudder MK IV | Asus PG279Q 1440p | Pimax Crystal Light VR | Samsung 980 Pro as system disk and Samsung 990 Pro M2 SSD for games

Yes, that's actually a good idea. Maybe all the time they spent on the airliners with complex systems was wasted as most here seem to consider them arcadish default aircraft. They might have been better off adding a DC3, a Stearman and a P-51 instead of the airliners that probably cost them a lot of effort. The "gamers" would have loved them. Maybe toss in an LS8 glider and Huey as well as the time spent on the 747 and Dreamliner would be enough for a bunch of less complex ac... Or if they had spent the time on doing a mission engine like Stormworks. Go with a helicopter rescuing fishermen on boats, put out fires in California etc... Then A2A and PDMG could do the airliners with all 200 buttons and subpages of the FMS working? They really should have involved them 3 years ago with super strict NDAs. August 21, 20205 yr I looked at an FMS once...I didn't like it. 🙁 The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Thinking about it, it's crazy that they didn't back then. Flight sims was ice cold then. Now their value has quadrupled thanks to MS 😉 Edited August 21, 20205 yr by mazex Ryzen 9800X3D | Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX MB | 64GB 6000Mhz DDR5 | RTX 5080 GPU | Windows 11 Pro x64 | Virpil T-50 Throttle | T50 CM2 Grip + WarBRD | VKB T-rudder MK IV | Asus PG279Q 1440p | Pimax Crystal Light VR | Samsung 980 Pro as system disk and Samsung 990 Pro M2 SSD for games
