I don't see anything mentioned in the documentation about the position transducers in this quadrant.  Hall Effect sensors are really the gold standard these days.

Bob,

No argument from me about the quality of HE sensors, though of course there are even higher quality sensors available.

That said, when you use components such as HE sensors you drive the cost up substantially and as you know it's far more than just the cost of the components.  Adding hall effect sensors can double the price of a product like the Bravo TC, and while there is a market for a $500 or great TC, it's not nearly as large as the market for a TC at half the cost.

And there we have it, the goal with the Honeycomb products is to provide superior hardware at a cost which is affordable for the broadest customer group.  I can't say that the mark was hit until I've been hands on and completed my research, but if everything I've been told is correct this is one HECK of a piece of hardware for an incredible $250.  This is a very smart decision on the part of Honeycomb and something that my company has been doing for the past 15 years with our Airbus line.

I would also say that use wise the vast majority of flight simmers are absolutely fine with high quality pots as opposed to hall effect sensors and would appreciate the price break, it's certainly been perfectly fine for me!

Speaking about prices in the flight sim world, I'd like to share something.  It was over 15 years ago that I spoke with more than a few developers about what I saw as a shocking escalation in flight sim product pricing.  I tried to convince them that reducing prices would result in selling more products and overall increasing their profits.  Well, none of them did so and prices continued to increase to the point where some companies charge as much as $169 for a single aircraft!  That's INSANE, especially when you consider the cost of the underlying flight sim.

One company I didn't speak to was Aerosoft, but the Aerosoft CEO hails from the financial business sector and came to the same conclusion that I did about product pricing - and that told me three things about them.  They are smart people, they think things through, and they care about their customers and the flight sim community and where that is concerned they put their money where their mouth was and proved it. Wow, a company that actually proves they care about us!  Brother, that's what attracted me to Aerosoft and through their decisions and actions they've done nothing but reinforce my first impression of them.  Why did I share this?  Because there is a very special relationship between Honeycomb and our company, and Honeycomb is doing the same thing that we did.

I hope you are well my friend, always a pleasure!

No, the Allegro A132x series HE sensors I used in the retrofit of my PFC quadrant sell for $2 each today at Digikey.com, $1.08 each in lots of 100.  The new Thrustmaster airbus throttles are using HE sensors, as does their very affordable consumer-grade T.16000M stick.  I have to disagree that use of the better technology must, by necessity, drive up costs significantly.  We just haven't been vocal enough in demanding the change.

Just pre-ordered the throttle in Canada from avworld.ca, looking forward to your review. Any word when you will have it up? Thanks.

Can anyone (Dave?) verify that the quadrant has physical detents on the throttles? I don't see this mentioned and would miss this quite a bit from my CH throttle quadrant.

Looks like the pre-order had an issue. At 1pm I tried to pre-order it, got it into my cart and tried to checkout at which point I was told it was sold out. Now it's back to pre-order, "Coming Soon" status. Oops. Looks like someone didn't realize the cart software was tied to actual inventory.

I was able to complete an order. I doubt they sold out that quick so it's got to be a glitch.

I got it into the cart, after about a 5-second delay, went to pay. Put in card info and then just got red text saying it was sold out. bummer. E-mailing support. The fact that the front page is back to Coming Soon is telling.

Another data point - put it right in my cart at 4pm and at 4:02 it was sold out. Either heavily botted, low starting inventory or some bug. Back to checking the website daily just like the yoke order.

I have a buddy who had the same thing happen. Not sure what's going on or how I got lucky enough to squeek in. But I'm sure it's gotta be a glitch.

Looks like it updated to "Sold out" next to the pre order.

Thanks. Much appreciated. Just wish they'd update the page so we know what's going on. heheh I want this as badly as i wanted FS2020. It's now showing as Sold Out on the webpage. You've gotta be kidding. I was on that at 4pm on the NOSE. Ugh.

Crazy gone in less than five minutes!

Can it be as hot as an iPhone???

I'm thinking something is a little strange.

E-Bay has at least a hundred of them listed for $500+.

It was gone in less than a minute. Like I said, I was in there at 4pm the MOMENT it went live. Not even 4:01 and had it in my cart before the minute was out. Had the card info in by the end of that minute and bang... Gone.

They are already listed on E-Bay. Apparently you could purchase more than one.

Well, I won't forget this screw-up for a while. How could they not limit the sales to at most two? Who needs 20 of these except to make more than they do on them???? Honeycomb just didn't think this through.

The Honeycomb Yoke if I recall was not in short supply for long after the initial release.

Maybe a month or two. I would never overpay by going to E-Bay.

It's just plain capitalism, not much we can do about it.
