Best Joystick and throttle for MS2020

Hi All,

I am loving the new SIM it's not perfect I am sure it will be in time.

I am using a joystick and throttle just a budget on, worked fine in FSX and FS9 but in MS2020 having spent allot of time adjusting sensitivity and trying to get it working correctly it is still really sensitive.

What are your recommendations based in what your using at the moment please for the best user experience.

I'm using TWCS Throttle and Pedals VKB Gunfighter Mk2. With minor sensitivity dampening they are very smooth. I also tried the T16000m joystick that came as part of the FCS pack with the Throttle and Pedals (needed the most dampening) and it was also smooth. 

The T16000m FCS pack was very affordable, but that was a year ago before the MSFS craze. Right now it's hard to find in stock and not at ridiculous prices $400+. 

 

EDIT: Have you tried this tweak? I haven't needed to but it's worth a shot before you buy new joystick.

Best throttle/yoke: Honeycomb alpha (or the Brunner FF yoke if you seriously want to spend money)

Best throttle currently available: Thrustmaster Warthog throttle.

I have pre-ordered the Fulcrum Yoke, which seems to be a good balance between the Honeycomb and the extremely expensive ones.

Until I get it, I am very happy with my TM Warthog combo.

Using the VKB Gunfighter MkII with 200mm extension centre-mounted with a desk mount. It's a very precise, well-engineered stick. A bit on the pricey side overall but good if you're into combat flight sims too. If you're in the market for a desktop stick that's a bit cheaper and not a yoke VKB have released their Gladiator NXT range which they're going to link in with modular throttle and switch panels. Might be worth a look as it'd probably work well across a range of games (MS Flight, DCS, IL2-BOX, Elite Dangerous, etc.).

I use the Honeycomb yoke and Virtual Fly TQ6+ six-lever throttle quadrant.

I find the TQ6+ to be an outstanding controller. Each lever has a Hall effect sensor giving precise and absolutely noise-free control over the axis. The physical “throw” of each lever is quite long giving ample control range end-to-end. Plus, the quality of construction of the unit is first rate and extremely rugged. The internal shafts and gear mechanisms are all metal, as are the individual levers. It even has an adjustable knob to control the lever friction just as would be found in a real aircraft. The disadvantage is that it it is a pure axis controller only. There are no switches on the unit that could be assigned to functions like TOGA etc.

The controller was recognized by MSFS, and all axis functions were automatically assigned for throttle, pitch and mixture.

Best Yoke- Honeycomb Alpha. I know there are 1000 dollar yokes in the market but for the money, honeycomb is amazing. 

Best Throttle - Thrustmaster Warthog. However, when the Honeycomb Bravo becomes available, this will not be the case anymore!

Currently using the Virpil Constellation Alpha grip on a WarBRD base, and a CH Pro Throttle. The throttle will be replaced at some point, as it's lacking a bit in precision.

The Virpil stick & base however are the best joystick I ever had. Incredible precision, a twist rudder that really works comfortably, and a nice selection of hats, switches, axes and scroll-wheels on the stick. The analog thumbstick is especially nice in MSFS to control the complex view system.

I am using the Yoko Yoke+ and the Yoko TQ6 +,  installation no problem. Both are automatically recognized, and set in MSFS 2020. Very satisfied.

I'm using the Thrustmaster Warthog joystick and throttle. Works great, and has very robust construction with "real" switches for most controls instead of cheap plastic ones. I've had it for something like 5 years with no problems.

I modded the joystick to remove the big mainspring, which causes a very stiff action that combat sim pilots like, but it makes precision flying with helicopters difficult (not that we have them yet in MSFS, but I assume they will arrive at some point).

After removing the mainspring, the stick still has a very slight centering action in the middle with the weaker remaining springs, but it's "floppy" and will rest to one side if I leave it there. I find this works great with both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. 

For pedals I'm using Saitek Pro Combat pedals, which I think might be discontinued. I'm in the market for a pedal upgrade when I can afford it, but these aren't bad.
