As I see, regions can be achieved with as much needed black and white pixel bitmaps so whites represent the region, then those regions can be defined in the library using the mentioned bitmaps.

I think you can create sub-regions too for special cases.

So in theory, a big opensource regional library for every country in the same pack is achievable, like an opensource gateway for auto-gen. It's tricky for laminar to do since they need to keep some consistency in performance and storage.

But the foundations for this kind of system is there.

Yes, exactly.

It's not... since it's actually a snapshot of a 3D model, so you're not seeing the same face constantly rotated towards you, but an actual representation of the original 3D tree model from the viewer's angle (i.e. It does not look the same on all sides like in X-Plane and P3D)

That still qualifies as a rotating billboard, just with more faces.

1) AI aircraft are way over-detailed than they should be, with the cockpit and cabin rendered! Really wasteful.

Zero surprise since the AI engine simply picks planes from the "Aircraft" folder.

Either define your traffic manually, using simple PlaneMaker or lo-fi models or use WorldTraffic, X-Life or AutoATC which control low-poly models (some straight converted from MSFS).

Well, I guess austin just answered your disscusion about 3d trees.

That was austin's answer in one of his last youtube video comments, he was asked about rain drops on windshield and 3d trees for the next version..

"strider00111 They are. I'm already looking at the imagery in internal pre-alpha tech-demos"

To me this sounds like new graphical weather effects depiction and new vegetation format.

... but the author has disappeared from the scene and the download alongside it.

But he is back 😃 (at least part time) and contributing a lot to the Canary islands in X-Africa.

The package for German vehicles can be still downloaded here. As written there, these vehicles were contained at that time in the Europe Library, which again is meanwhile contained in X-Europe at simheaven (from yet another author, who lives only 20 km from me, thus we are in good contact ...).

If you're into regionalization and can get a hold of corresponding asssets, try regionalizing the road traffic and signage (this can be done by means of library). There used to be an XP10/11 package that swapped out the generic cars, trains, signs and supermarkets when in Europe, ...

See X-Europe .

"Enhanced Europe" included a bit more than just your cars (thanks for your work nonetheless!) and was convenient for people who prefer to use the default object placement system over X-Europe (which only really makes sense for use with orthos).

Do you know if xp-flieger is still around in some X-Plane communities and if yes, if he could be convinced to reupload the original package somewhere?

I placed the cloud download into my plugin folder leaving my SkyMaxx and RWC folders in place and it looks great.  Thanks.

What is RWC?

Thanks.

RWC = Real Weather Connector ...  It is a Metar facilitator sold to be used with SkyMaxxPro.

Aahh ... ok ... as you mentioned (amongst others) "swapped out the generic cars, trains" I thought you meant my library. There were several enhancements for Europe, indeed - and I lost a bit the overview about them 😄.

Unfortunately, I don't have contact to xp-flieger, but only to PilotBalu (the guy behind simheaven), so I can't help in this regard. But e.g. for signage cars etc., X-Europe does the work.

As far as I remember, xp-flieger's package contained - amongst others - a fix that at least in Germany no lights are installed along the highways (as they are in default XP - or were back at that time in XP10). But I think, it should be possible to find something similar.

Since I like to have a bit of movement on my sim roads, the cars and trains were the first things that came to mind.

Yes, I think this was this mod, possibly with some minor modifications: http://www.x-plane.at/drupal/node/343

Last time I got in touch with Flight Sims was in 2009. Trying X-Plane in march this year I was amazed and blown up by the sim. What I liked a lot and still like is the default scenery. I like the view of the mountains, the dust in the morning hours. The differences to FSX are enormous. I don`t care about the graphics of MSFS.

The scenery add-ons are really amazing, also the shading mods that produce specularity, the rain mod and lights mods at night.
