Just turn it off in the little thingy at the top of the in-sim screen...not in the sim now or I'd post a pic.

Use the gear icon on the right of the icons to turn off all the icons you never use (including the VFR map)

Not sure if this relates to generated frames or actual displayed frames, but either way is seems to make a worthwhile difference.

If folks read the thread that first talked about this, n4ginx and I go into a little detail on this.   This is not based on your monitor refresh rate, and it's not just a divisor on your FPS.   You are essentially telling the sim "for every Nth frame of the game you render, update the panels once".   hangar experimentally verified this by setting a modulo of 5 and seeing the panel refresh rate dip below an apparent 10fps even on a 144Hz monitor.

Yes.  Just put the original back to how it was, or restore your back-up (you did make a backup didn't you?) .

Then drag the file from the pre-edited zip into the community folder. I believe the exact path/folder structure must be preserved however. 👍

For clarity, whatever the path/folder structure is in the official folder, this has to be duplicated in the community folder for it to successfully replace the original settings. It simply overrides the original file then without deleting it. A good system!

Do I need a customized layout.json or manifest.json to have this work?

Any ideas? I have MSFS on its own SSD

Argh... can't get this to work. Tried without and with manifest and layout files, but no luck. If anyone does his successfully, please elaborate.

You aren't looking for another Airbus in the sim are you?  Although these mods over-write the default files, it still uses the original A320.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

It's been posted everywhere and it works. On 60Hz, setting it to 3 will update the displays at 20Hz, which is borderline OK in the Airbus.

this is incorrect...if you read thoroughly through those posts about this tweak you'll see that its NOT based off of your refresh rate, but rather off of your fps. The way it works is that you choose the number you wish to assign in this tweak and that number gets used to divide your fps by that chosen number and the result is the refresh rate that will get assigned to your in cockpit gauges.

What all this means basically is that, if you are willing to lower your gauges fps then you will get a bonus on your overall sim fps.

Example: if you choose to use the number 3 for this tweak (as you have noted), what happens is that your gauge refresh rate (essentially, gauge fps) will end up being the sim fps divided by 3...so, if you are averaging 45 fps in the sim then your gauges would be set at 15 fps. That 15fps is quite slow if you find yourself on final approach and needing very smooth action on your gauges.

So...use this tweak very carefully (or not at all) if your gauge refresh rate is very important to you. I think those who fly and land by only looking out the window will not suffer too much, but those who fly precision instrument approaches will not like the result.

So this is adaptive to your current fps, there is no way to lock the 2d display refresh rate? I would like to lock it at 20 fps under any circumstance... (btw didn't tried the fix yet).

Huh? Im not looking for an Airbus at all. Im looking to override the BaseInstruments.js file which is shared by most aircraft.
