Can I add my house as a point of interest?

Featured Replies

I've already found my house using coordinates as a destination.  I'd like to add it to POI so I have a marker on it like other POI's.

Is that possible?

Thanks

Dave

Not that I know of.  This would be a feature that I'd like to eventually see.

Would like to be able to interact with POIs more in general.  It would be useful to be able to click on POI icons while in-flight to display more information about them (name, distance to, maybe something else).  Right now the plane needs to be pointed at a particular POI and you have to be close enough to see the label.

Maybe even a function to display POIs in a pre-set radius around the plane would be nice.

Some of my other wants: opacity and size settings for labels, smaller, less 'clunky' multiplayer ID tags, ability to disable stems going to the POI from the teardrop label, ability to assign key to toggle multiplayer labels on/off, some way of gauging how close another player is to me (sometimes I'll be in an area where only one other player is present, I'd like to know if they're 50nm or 2nm away from me).

Have the whole world to explore and see and yet people want to just see their house. lmao

Maybe that's because its has not, until now, been possible to due so with recognizable neighborhoods, ect.

SirDan you are a big proponent of the sim.  Was fully expecting an avalanche of these types of comments, but not from you.

I don't see any whining or attack on software in this thread.  Simple question was asked, that's it.

Would it help if OP asked how to add POI to something other than their house?

The point is , you see your house everyday. I mean I think most people are playing the sim from with-in their house. But not everyone gets the chance to go anywhere in the world.

Ok, I don't believe there's a POI icon over Mt. Everest.  Can it be added in the sim?

I understand your point completely.  Do you understand ours?

It's fun to see your own neighborhood in the game. Either just because you're curious what it looks like and to which extend it's recognizable.

Or also because it's Flight Simulator, and people like to simulate the flights they would do or enjoy in reallife, which would also take place around their local airport and area.

Not from 1.500 ft in the air...

🙂

Forgive me.  I'm a beginner.  Still trying to find destinations.  All replies to posts are important.  I've learned to absorb all manner of posts, so feel free to post reactions, opinions.

I havent watch it all the way through to be certain but I believe that this video shows how to use the smart cam to do what you want:

**EDIT: well I watched it now, and it works ok to create a target for the smart cam, but it's not saved permanently so that means you'll have to do it again for each flight.

Yes, thanks. I've watched that and it does work; just doesn't leave a marker or indicator.

As true as what you are mocking may be, if you have yet to fly over your own house, I would be willing to bet mine that you are the only one flying in MSF that has not flown over their own house lol ; ) .

i7-12700K; GF RTX 3080Ti 12 GB; MSI Z690 MB; 32 GB DDR5 4800Mhz (16x2); 850W 80+ Gold PS; 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD + 2 TB HDD @ 7200 + Kingston 4TB XS2000 USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Ext. SSD (for MSFS & all games); 240 mm liquid cooler; LG 32UD59-B 32" UHD 4K; Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS stick; wired conn. to rtr. (500 Mbps); W11 Pro

the smart cam is really great, when you fly close with some friends the closest airplane is automatically the target, its a great feature for formation flying too.
