One scenery developer got it right!

Featured Replies

Just did a flight around Denver and then over to Flightbeam's KDEN and was amazed there was no performance hit at all.  The airport is highly detailed and ran like butter in the sim.  To be clear no other payware add-on modeling an airport of this size has accomplished this yet in FS2020.  I know this may have been reported already but this gives me great hope in not only scenery but add-on aircraft.  In time once developers learn how to optimize their work in FS2020 these add-ons will out perform anything we've ever seen added to any version of Flight Simulator in the past.

And at 15 dollars is incredibly well priced. There’s some developers that really need to take notice of how Flightbeam operate. I really hope they do well in this new sim.

I’d say it’s fair priced. I haven’t liked all these people forgetting that $40 for a flight sim scenery was already out of hand and just because that’s what they all were charging didn’t make it fair. $15-$25 is a fair priced range. But regardless, it is still an awesome scenery from an awesome dev.

I purchased it a few days ago and just took a flight with the TBM from Telluride to Denver this morning. It looks fantastic (even compared to the Asobo hand crafted airport), and I also did not experience any performance penalty. I highly recommend if you fly around Colorado regularly.

Problem with most mods is that they do not use LODs (level of detail), which means there are different version of the model with varying amout of polygons. The closer you move, the more it transitions into the full model with many polygons. If you are farther away, the light model is used for performance reason. Basically, eversince the tutorial has showned up how to rip photogrammetry 3D models from Google maps, tons of kids just rip landmarks and put them straight into FS2020. No LOD setup whatsoever. It's just really tons of beginner stuff released for free these days.

I’m ok with that. That’s how it starts.

There was a lot of low quality stuff back in Fs2002,FS9 days, but people learned.

Shoot. Got a 30% discount on top of it. I can't remember the last time I paid $10 for flightsim scenery.

Yep...as did I for being an owner of the P3D version.  Mir and FB are a class act, their scenery has always been top-notch...and $10 for KDEN at this detail level.  I'll pay that all day long! (we'll I guess I pay it for all the previous FB scenery I own if the pricing discount holds for all the airports).

When I think of folks who routinely drop a 10 (or more) on a popular Twitch streamer without even thinking about it, and then complain that paying the same or only slightly more to a dev for their scenery, it drives me batty.  The devs are...oh I don't know????.... developing the scenery you fly within your sim....and a twitch streamer is giving you what again?  Oh yeah...maybe some custom emoji's to spam in their chat to make you feel important...i get it....WAAAAY more important. 🤣

Anyway....I digress...Dillon, I had no doubt in my mind FB would "get it right"....its been my experience that they always do. 🙂

Can't wait for SFO....heck...can't wait for them all.

Steve Dra

I can't wait for the just released KMIA and KBUR to get more refined as to how they are made under the hood because what Flightbeam did here is incredible.

LatinVFR/Orbx please call Flightbeam...
