September 16, 20205 yr For the past few hours my update has been stuck on the fs-base-cgl-0.1.30.fspatch.002 - I just thought my internet was being slow or the servers were packed, but that appears not to be the case. Is anyone else having the same issue?

September 17, 20205 yr Similar, except my issue is with the patch downloading in the game. Very frustrating, I would guess their proprietary download/upload server module has a bug in it where instead of the thread aborting when it gets overloaded it just sits there stuck. They need to fix that. Edited September 17, 20205 yr by SceneryFX AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
September 17, 20205 yr Author I had to restart the sim about five times as after it downloaded a few hundred kb's it just wouldn't go any further. I got it in the end eventually.
September 17, 20205 yr This whole thing is funny. (have to look at it that way) I think I started my 8 or 9th try this morning. this includes at least 4 times uninstalling and starting from scratch. It's the same every time. Get to 15% of package.002 and it restarts. At least I know from experience that I am safe in downloading the first 18 gigs. It's so exhilarating. I can remember when system ram was noted as KB's, now in 2020 we can download in 18 gigabyte chunks. Progress - I love it! September 18, 20205 yr Had an endless loop for downloading various files from the patch too. Spend over 75GB in download data for just one file that is 1,85GB big and still it would start over and over. Looked a bit all over the place for a solution, found a few, none of them worked. Until i saw a post about bringing down speed of the network card to 10MBit/s (from 1GB/s). Tried it (without having much hope) and the rest of the entire download went through in one go. Took quite a while at this speed. After download complete i did set the network speed back to 1GB/s. Maybe worth a shot? https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/update-stuck-in-a-loop-1-8-2/273910/18 Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. September 18, 20205 yr This fixed it for me at release.. I relaunched the update numerous times on a 1GB connection and I averaged 2Mbps and less and then stalls. Until I did this then got 200Mbps RUN THE GAME AS ADMINSTRIATOR Easiest way to do this If you don't have Windows 10 taskbar search enabled.. Do it Right click on a blank space in the taskbar, search, "Show Search Bar" Then search for "Microsoft Flight Simulator" (Don't have to type it all out for it to appear) When it appears right click, and run as admin. Why it takes the the search bar results to be able to do this.. September 18, 20205 yr You guys must really have bad luck. Can't see how you are all having these problems. I see everyone complaining about stuck installers or looping and then I go home fire up the sim and it prompts for an update, I let it do its thing and 30 minutes later it's downloaded and installing. The update process for MSFS and XP is similar. Only difference is in XP you can opt out of the update, but i really don't have to do anything except hit continue or next. And I'm on a wifi connection. Edited September 18, 20205 yr by devgrp
September 18, 20205 yr Not sure why this issue is only affecting the select few (myself included), the weird thing was when the main release happened on the 18th of August the full package downloaded in a couple of hours. I then made a minor mistake a couple of weeks ago in upgrading my main SDD but not backing up the MSFS files to save re-downloading them all again thinking it would only take a couple of hours BIG MISTAKE.. After installing the new drive went to download MSFS again and it kept getting stuck on certain files, I tried all the tips given out by the dev team none of it worked, kept looking on the main MSFS forum for a cure whilst pausing and resuming the download which worked to some degree. Kept doing that whenever I wasn't at work and finally it finished the download around 4-5 days I left it running overnight and whilst I was at work (shouldn't of taken that long on a 350mbit connection though) WooHoo I thought THEN update 2 got released and it did it again with that looping thing. I left it overnight and the next morning whilst I was at work, still not completed so headed to the main MSFS Forum and found a couple of suggestions These were: 1 - Changing the Routers DNS 2 - Download Netlimiter 4 and set the up & down limit to 2MB/s for flightsimulator.exe I was so fed up of waiting I did both AND it worked the update finished in about 30 minutes. In my router settings I changed from Cloudflares 1.1.1.1 DNS to Google DNS Servers, I also stuck with the 2MB/s limit but it may need adjusting up or down for others. At least I'm further along then I was before. Thank you for the tip. I'm too old to jump through this many hoops but it is good exercise. 😉 Having been in the Flight Sim world for a long time I'm not really surprised at all of this turmoil but I could live without it. 😃 Bill Bill N7IBG
September 19, 20205 yr No need to get an extra program like Netlimiter to do the job. In Windows you can set the speed of your network card to 10MB/s and after the download, set it back to the original value.
