Don’t get me wrong the recent patch is not without it faults. I’m particularly incensed by the lack of sensitivity for example. But early adopters of third party addons and mods should know better than to rush in add stuff galore when we know full well upcoming patches could risk adversely affecting these things. I deliberately held off adding new planes, cockpit mods, liveries...etc. Give 3rd party devs more time to hone their skills while the game itself gets patched to someone near retail (rather than beta quality). Patience I think is required especially as if we’re all honest with ourselves this game was never expected to be released as early as it did.

Yup, me too. I bought both the available payware aeroplanes, first for the curiosity but secondly because since they were purchased via the in-built market, there is something of a duty on the part of MS to ensure those work less they pee off paying customers and in so doing, shoot themselves up the jacksie in terms of confidence in their store's reliability.

Scenery-wise, I've restricted myself to a couple of freebie grass strips and stuff I've made for myself, and that was largely to try out the SDKs and plug ins for 3D modeling programs etc.

I'd not be too surprised to see pretty much anything get broken for a week or two in between early patches. Pretty much every large scale game/sim experiences that kind of thing these days. It sort of goes with the territory and anyone who is making stuff, myself included, should accept the fact that one's efforts could easily be rendered obsolete whilst things are in flux SDK-wise.

Larry, maybe this latest converter build helps:

http://eech.online/msfslegacyimporter/

Download build 3.0, released yesterday. I haven't tested it yet with my FSX port-overs, as I'm not at my PC at the moment, but the readme says this:

"- fixing crash issue because of clickable elements inside legacy cockpit"

I will test it tonight (German time)

Good luck and I hope we'll get our cherished FSX planes back.

Ciao,

Wow, that looks pretty good!  I've downloaded it and will check it out.

Thanks! 😄

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

The crash is connected to hovering your mouse over a clickable object, not the clickable objects by themselves, because I can fly the Ultralight fine without it crashing, but if I hover my mouse over the parking break or anything else, it will crash.

Interesting, thanks.  It the case of the Stearman, the entire cockpit is a click spot.  It changes in different places, but large areas will "default" to a nearby click spot tooltip.

I guess this means they may have changed something in the tool tip processing and that's causing the crash in converted aircraft.  Perhaps try turning off tool tips, which I understand didn't work before in default aircraft.

I don't even have to move my mouse. The program crashes to desktop about two seconds after the plane settles on the runway. I tried clearing all the boxes with MCX and it didn't help. I even tried the latest build of the converter.

The default placement of the mouse might be on a clickable object then.

The Ultralight works fine as the only clickable objects are out of view on start up.

The sun rises again for interesting aircraft 🙂

Needed to revert to the standard aircraft.cfg to get engine running right (the tool splits it up to conform to new MSFS standards, which helps with jets but for me makes piston engines worse) but did the texture conversions and removed clickspots.

Cheers

As MSFS will evolve over time and the patches/updates change things it might be that addon aircraft/scenery working at this moment might be working less correct or causing issues after patches/updates.

Then the developers need to work on them again and again.
