The avionics failure bug is the end of the line for me

Yep, been there, done that, somehow survived to collect my t-shirt. More than once.

LOL!!   I had a wild ride..trying to figure it out...and would bring the AP engaged climb trim down to vertical...collect control....and then engage the AP ONLY to have the same 'MSFS wants to KILL YOU!  hot ride.   So...forgot about getting to Michigan...and did some touch and goes over whatever airports I had seen...at the Florida/Georgia border.   Seriously...this patch was released to the wild?  Who is running the show now?  I wonder...if any of the Dev's have left, or been fired...or what....but seriously,...they are putting this out there?!?  Dunno...

I’m seriously convinced they’re using the same QA testers as the Win10 team 😂

I'm yet to be convinced they actually are using QA testers of any description at all. 🤣

Can either of you provide full replication steps to reproduce this behavior consistently and easily?

I don't have either of your experiences.  I just had a wonderful flight through Yosemite with the C172 and it was easily flyable.  And NOT one plane I have had has had the Avionics just turn off.  I understand you have a video, but unless it is easily replicated with consistent repeatable steps,  then you really have nothing more than what might be an environmental issue unique to your installation and not with the program.

So before you call for the head of QA to be fired, perhaps you should chill out on the hyperbole, and actually help the team track down this issue and make sure it is a product issue and not an issue with your system.

I am also having the C172 classic's garmin shut off after awhile.  I start a flight on the runway or cold and dark it will do it.  Someone mentioned it might be because the ign switch was left on start or the RPM's are getting too low to charge the battery but I've checked those things. I now think it's a bug because even at full throttle the garmin map display shuts off for me.  I'm confident in time it will be fixed though.

I`m not seeing this problem, have the latest MSFS patch and bought the Carenado Ovation today and my sim is perfect.

I have a low end system and have never lost the G1000 PFD or MFD. I have an old AMD 7700 video card, 16 GB memory and Ryzen 5 CPU. Original install with patches. I find it hard to understand the problems many people are having. Just 1 livery addon for the King Air.

Most of the complainers  in this thread need to take a chill pill.  I suspect that several thousand testers are required to test all hardware, software configurations / combinations on the Windows platform.  Automated testing can only go so far.

After the issue is reported, take your pill and wait until the fix is made.  Sheesh!

totally agree and good reminder. personally I'm trying to sort out whether it's bug related or user error.

I have had the Garmin go out one time since the new patch, I have a completely virgin system, no mods, not even a livery.  I was doing a lot of experimenting on the Garmin that night so on my part it could have very well been user error.  Love your screen name by the way.

Just curious, what process are you following to establish this?

It's a bug, the official forum thread has been making great progress on debugging it. It's related to AI aircraft..

I've not had this bug since disabling all Ground Aircraft..  Essentially their data `leaking' into our cockpits.. Hence navigation being turned off, fuel selectors switching themselves, knobs and dials turning without input..

I’ve read that using generic AI-models ”cures” this bug. Might explain why I never encountered the issue.

Are they saying modded ai (the big repaint pack with most repaints set to be used as ai) or live vs bgl based ai?

As I understand it, under General -> Graphics set "Use generic plane models (AI Traffic)" to ON. This has been my setting since day one and I have yet to see the avionics bug (>50hrs and 50-60 flights in the 208 and King Air).

It definitely appears that the problems with avionics suddenly shutting down, switches and systems activating by themselves, autopilots going “crazy” etc. has something to do with unwanted interactions between the user’s own aircraft and either AI aircraft, or other users’ aircraft in a multiplayer environment. The latter appears to be the biggest factor.

I have logged about 20 hours so far since patch 2 came out with absolutely no avionics issues at all - certainly no shutdowns. That is probably because I do not use AI (I have zero interest in having traffic of any kind in the sim). For the same reason, I do not use multiplayer, and I have my ground traffic slider set to zero, as I don’t like dealing with the constant problem of generated airport vehicles sitting in the middle of taxiways and ramps getting in the way.

From what I have read, keeping ground traffic set to zero, and using only generic AI models seems to avoid the unwanted interaction with other player’s aircraft for those who do enjoy using multiplayer.
