Throttle Quadrant

The other feature that it should have is the ability to configure throttle levers in different ways (airliner, GA, etc).

I 100% agree. It’s what I meant by

Configurable handles for different aircraft types with electrical buttons. I love this aspect of the Honeycomb.

If it was done in a discrete way like the saitek down under the levers then perhaps I’d concede their usefulness

Do you not find the buttons on the Saitek TQs useful? Infinitely preferable to clicking a switch or button with the mouse surely?

The Saitek ones are discrete. OTOH, I find the Honeycomb enormous and consequently very unattractive. And remember it still uses pots which is why they will degrade over time. Are replacements available? Is there a repair service? In this day age age that is important.

Hall effect sensors have a very long lifespan. Probably longer than me! That's what Chris is planning to use I believe.

100% agree. It’s way too big. There is nothing in the back section of that huge box. Contactless sensing is definitely the way to go but Chris doesn’t need us to tell him that.

For me not really but for some others yes absolutely. I use Air Manager for my instruments and controls and because it’s so flexible I can easily add something if it’s not already there. I never use the mouse or keyboard to fly.

You’ve got me all excited now.

Love the small snippet we saw Chris. Thanks for sharing your progress and great work so far. It was pretty much what I expected other than the configurable handle arrangement. I know this is still a work in progress so perhaps now is the time to say I for one was a little disappointed with the handle swapping arrangement. From what I could tell it will require a tool to do and it appears as if there is no electrical connection to the handles for things like TOGA, A/T disc. I’m happy to be put right. Other than that the rest looked great.

I’m hoping the lever tops will be a different shape (prop & mixture) and not just colour for the final product so they can be identified by touch.
Certainly looks positive so far. Would still be hoping for a beta range at the bottom of the ranges.

Was this snippet something only available to be seen in person at the FSElite Website launch event in Bath?

The tops will be shaped as normal, this was just a teaser rendering to show off the unique tilting arrangement. Each axis has a 2 way momentary switch under it, the same type as used in our yoke.

A reverse/beta range can be incorporated but has yet to be decided on, that is the easy bit really.

The video will be posted on our social media and also on our news page tomorrow at some point after I get some sleep. Just got back from Bath and it's 3am!

It is still a work in progress so I'll explain more and the reasons why certain decisions were made soon.

Remember that can of worms you've been saving? Well you've just opened it! You brought it on yourself. I've no sympathy.

Do what you love and it never feels like work they said. I mean, who wants an easy life anyway?
