Well...believe it or not.. I'm getting better performance. Less stutters, RAM is now at 70% all cores engaged, and sin runs alot smoother.

Good stuff ! Enjoy

A bit more testing. First, this fix completely eliminated the micro stutters I was seeing. They are gone. I also noticed a few other interesting things...

1. I saw my RAM usage go up to 73% and I have 32 GB installed. So this sim can use a lot of RAM.

2. My 4770K CPU was averaging 25% usage so it was idling. Now that the stutters are gone I don't think a CPU upgrade is going to help me a whole lot anymore. I have a ton of  CPU headroom.

3. If I take off from a large city like NYC or LA my frames will dip down into the teens but I still get no micro stutters. This is what I would have expected to see. I think I need a GPU upgrade to really push this system.

4. Without the micro stutters distracting me I can appreciate this sim even more now.  Those micro stutters really catch your attention, even if you just think you saw one. Now that the sim is 100% smooth I find myself actually looking at the scenery and not the micro stutters.

5. My settings are cranked up very high. I think the sliders are between 140 and 175 and most settings are on Ultra. This is on a 1440p monitor. Not bad for a 4770K and 1070.

6. The thing that got me thinking that this problem was outside the sim had to do with the fact that on LOW settings in the sim I still had stutters. If you have micro stutters drop your settings down all the way and see if you still have them. If so, it might be this issue. Luckily Roi1862 found the right fix.

Good job! These stutters were driving me crazy.

I am curious if you still find process lasso beneficial with the latest patch .

I have to have it or i get stutters. I also run no cache and keep weather on clear skies. I tested by letting it run for hours and no ctd.

Thank you Sir,

Will give this a try. Just installed a new 1TB NVME so about to attempt to move my install lol

Maybe its simply too slow ? I am not sure... maybe your CPU is old and all cores were used regardless to this "fix"

Did not try any of these fixes yet as my 12yr old i5-2500k @ 4ghz with 8gb ram and a (newly upgraded) msi 1660s runs super smooth (well, unless flying over nyc) with live weather in modest 1600x900 resolution at mostly high settings. I couldn’t be happier. Yes, stutters overs Central Park but anything else so far incl. ORBX LOWI, Aerosoft EDLP or FSDT Key West are all butter smooth. So much for old CPUs 🙂

Awesome it works well for you. Resolution makes all the difference.  At 1600 x 900 your system is pushing 1.4M pixels. At 2560 x 1440 mine is pushing 3.7M. It is much worse for the guys with 4K displays.

Wait you mean NO clouds?! What happens with clouds on in various cloud settings? That is nutz.

Like i said, I fly with clear skies (no clouds) because my system just cannot take the strain of full on weather. I will upgrade at some point this year and then get weather. No biggie for right now.

That IS a major biggie - the clouds are what make this thing coupled with the real world weather. Running i7-3770 3.4ghz and 16MB RAM. GTX 1060 card and am able with reduced settings obviously... have clouds set 1 setting below ultra (medium?).

Maybe after the next patch I will recheck it. I get 40 to 50 FPS and smooth flying. Real weather seems to bring CTDs.

In short, went from [email protected] to [email protected]. That word not allowed main Thread stutters are still there in the exact same places !

Save your money ! This sim CPU optimizations is horrible !

I think the mileage varies quite a bit.

I just went from an 8700K to a 10900K and my FPS went from 30ish to 48 including increasing a few sliders quite a bit.

In X-plane 11 I went from 30 to 60. So I think it varies depending on a number of factors.

Changing to an NVME didn't make any noticeable difference when I switched. I have read in other places that for flight sims it has a very small negligible performance improvement.

Agreed,

For me I had MSFS 2020 installed on my 4TB 7,200 rpm WD Black drive and I definitely saw some stuttering from scenery loading. I am finding that the sim is the best it has been now it is on a fast NVME. I just love the TBM, it is one of the better performers.
