Key is to understand what each setting does, which ones affect CPU and which ones affect GPU, then load your system accordingly. Use this guide right here to fine tune your settings while keeping an eye on CPU (MainThread) and GPU load using the dev mode FPS counter. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-graphics-settings-and-performance-guide-8-18-2020/132407 This is great! What is Ambient Occlusion? I see 0 difference in any of the pictures. 🤔 Edited September 23, 20205 yr by reignman40 ASUS Prime Z490-A / i7-10700K / RTX 4080 / G.SKILL Ripjaws 32GB / Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic case

You will see the difference when close to a Terminal, or on the parts of the fuselage that are in the shadow, it's subtle but makes the image much more realistic. I recommend "High" if your GPU can do it. Edited September 23, 20205 yr by Colonel X - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

Its like something in the CPU utilization gets screwed up after some flying around. Even in remote areas. One thing to try, recommended elsewhere, is install "Process Lasso" (it is free with a nag) and disable Windows dynamic thread priority boosts. I gather it stops windows randomly swapping your processor priorities away from MFS at inopportune times. Might help, might not .. but its free so no harm in trying.
September 23, 20205 yr Author OKKK i think i am onto something(AGAIN). Software called "Park control" The most interesting value there is "Freq Scaling DC". I set it to Enabled and and put 100% then press apply. If someone having similar issue with stutters as me, please try and let me know. I know this could work now and after 1 hour it wont. September 23, 20205 yr Author It looks real good now. Here is what i think is happening and @w6kd feel free to correct me if i am wrong. Since this sim CPU use is low, the processor think its not in use much and reduce the CPU freq. Thats why sudden moves or just flying to new area causing stutters because its all of a sudden wake up. Am i making sense ? MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28

I am so happy i am afraid to close the sim just so when i open it next time it will be back 🙂 MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28

Profile on top "ultimate Performance" , Below it the 3 options from the left to right set to Disabled and 100%, the last one "Freq scaling DC" set to Enabled and 100%. Click Apply just under it. Dont click OK on the bottom just navigate back to the sim. Check and please let me know i am very curious to know your result. September 23, 20205 yr Okay I used the bitsum power profile in process lasso, which is supposed to do the same thing, I definitely notice it being way smoother. Need more testing. Edited September 23, 20205 yr by RobJC 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
September 23, 20205 yr Author For me it made a difference like night and day. only question now is if i should try to put back on the HT. Now that i found the real cause. I could just try but i am actually afraid to touch anything 🙂 Edited September 23, 20205 yr by roi1862 MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28
September 23, 20205 yr I have a few more test flights. This really does make a big difference. On smaller GA aircraft that are not too heavy on the frames to start it is butter smooth. The 787 is not as smooth, but I can say it is much improved. Thanks roi1862! 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Before it was like I could only focus on the stutters because they broke the feeling of immersion. Now they only really seem to happen during communications, which is not bad at all. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Interesting find - thanks. Who knew lower CPU usage would cause issues...I wonder if disabling C1E and EIST in BIOS would accomplish the same?
