Partly cloudy and lightning all over!

Featured Replies

It's a partly cloudy day here, and the clouds we have are relatively thin, but it seems that this new update thinks that ALL clouds are capable of generating lightning... Anyone else having this problem?

Haven't tried yet, but sounds like people wanted lightning and thunder and....they gave it to us lol one extreme to the other **face palm**

Great... I thought it was just fine before the update.

Yeah, I'm not impressed...

I just tested KBKV. Changed the time to see the effects and sounds and I'm delighted that it works. Are you saying that it's happening everywhere? Not on my system.

just crosscheck with lightningmaps or similar. I just did flight over black sea (current thunderstorms all over place) was pretty accurate.

Lightning seems to be completely "detached" from cloud model. Well.. in theory they should and majority of time will match together.

Only thing I'm surprised they did fade in/fade out instead of lets say having 50ms flash like twice in a second. Would look more realistic.

No, no, that's what I'm asking. All I know is it is happening where I am right now (which I prefer not to post since it's my IRL home). I even checked the forecast in case there might be some weird weather forecast, as we are getting scattered showers and wind, but nothing about thunderstorms. None of my meteorologists are talking about storms, either. As for actual cloud cover and wind, the sim is modeling that pretty accurately to what I see out the window, but this lightning all over the place is just wrong.

Out of curiosity what does Meteoblue's forecast say?  That is what they use.  For me its lightning and rain right now and that is accurate to the sim.

Seen some posts on the official forums saying same thing as the OP.

Yes me too. Today life weather Gibraltar almost clear and lightning all over the place. Thunder also. Regarding windy.com no lightning at all

yeah, a bit overdone, does not really match lightning websites or their own blue site.

Just checked (that's a nice site), and no storms observed or forecast, just some wind and scattered showers.

I checked the weather channel radar in my area and the weather in the sim was spot on or at least very close to reality.
