September 29, 20205 yr Yes, as the resident weatherman (former) here I was pleasantly surprised to find more accurate weather in this local area, KESN. However though the pressure, ceiling, visibility, and rain were all within scope, the area, and region as a whole, were not reporting thunderstorms anywhere close. But the lightening and thunder were persistent, and pervasive. And unfortunately, KESN with the exception of a generic tower and one radio beacon, still lacks hangars and airport buildings. Just flat blobs of color where they should be. There are representative buildings in view off the airport, such as a hotel and apartment buildings, just no legit airport buildings. September 30, 20205 yr In my opinion the lightning effect is now a lot better, more pronounced. On the other hand there is lightning where it shouldn’t be, like on top of a layer of smallish cumulus. It’s nice but too much now.
September 30, 20205 yr Hello together-- Ive tested it since last night: - thunder and lightning appears even under light clouds coverage in the caribic. - thunder and lightning appears here in Bremen - even we have just a little thin grey coverage (high fog) with clouds, the blue sky now appearing --- but in simulator its like thunderstorm weather - and by the way: every 2 seconds thunder appears and the lightning is just worse than in second world war... ...sorry zynism out - Sorry, thats not realistic! Befor the atch it definitely was much better. Maybe some gamer like to habe that effects but not a simmer how likes to fly close to reality- and sadly... befor it was better- Nevertouch a running system. And please let the customer decide to install a patch. Im goining to write that to microsoft too. And some other things seems to be changed: refections of lightened houses in the water or river are there but the lights of the house (windows etc.) are not refelcting in the water anymore. Maybe we can live without but why they did make it more worth than before? Just to raise framerates for simmers who havent the proper hardware? Henning from EDDW

September 30, 20205 yr I was doing a flight down to Sicily yesterday in clear skies and had some lightning strikes.
September 30, 20205 yr Author Day two and once again I'm in the middle of a lightning storm that does not exist in real life or Meteoblue forecasts. The interesting thing is that the "Flight Conditions" button in the world map shows a lightning storm, so for whatever reason MFS thinks we're in the middle of a storm right now. Sure, it's windy with scattered showers, but just like yesterday there is NO lightning anywhere in my entire state IRL. I am not amused.

October 11, 20205 yr I get strong lightning whenever there are any clouds with rain. I was watching a YouTube video of someone flying in 100% clear skies with lightning and thunder all around. They were able to introduce this feature in the latest patch. The October 8 development update says that lightning in mostly sunny skies is to be investigated. They don't appear to have any clue what is included in their patches, even adding lightning where there is none. Can you really add lightning everywhere and not understand how you did it? I remember when everyone was so excited about the prospect of not having to install loads of tweaks, custom fixes, mods, and third party apps in order to get a realistic sim. Those days are long gone, and the developers seem to be making great strides in taking the sim backwards. Edited October 11, 20205 yr by desbean
October 11, 20205 yr I only saw lightning for the first time last friday. Live weather was a bit of a thunder/lightning stormy weather and it was present in the sim. But since then, i have thunder and lightning even with a few clouds here and there. Seems like the lightning somehow got stuck and is now all over the place. October 11, 20205 yr Another bad thing about the lightning, is that it tanks my FPS every time it flashes on the screen.
October 11, 20205 yr In my experience the weather depiction now using Live Weather in spite of the lighting and thunder is WAY off. Definitely gone a step backwards here......to be honest I'm thinking of getting Rex WF despite the negative comments only to get something that resembles real world metar. I've been using this MOD last couple of days but the weather pops in like its 2010 again. Thomas Derbyshire
