ATC barely audible

Featured Replies

Before the first update everything worked great, could hear the atc loud and clear. Then after first update it either could not hear anything..static crackle when speech occured ...or you could hear it ..barely. Tried changing to microsoft offline ..still same ..checked language was correct ...seen a few other posts with same issue. Now after this recent big update was hoping it would work, but same thing .Getting extremely frustrating!! What to do?? By the way...before that last big update I reinstalled also ..that did not work either. Sound is through a Logitech G533 headset. All other games work fine through it??

I am assuming your question had to do with MSFS 2020 and you mistakenly put it in the AVSIM General Library forum?

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

There was a known issue with Azure again. Use offline voices instead.

I have no ATC voices at all, even after trying the offline voices. Azure voices worked fine before the latest patch.

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU:  MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB]
SSD:  Corsair Force MP510 (for OS);  2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)
HDD:  Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet

Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

I’ve been having to turn up the radio volume to hear ATC, after every start. Before the first patch, it would default to a reasonable volume without intervention. Asobo and their regression bugs.

Have had this issue since the beginning. Now voice is female where it was male.

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

There is an option for radio communication distortion due to distance to the station, check if you don't have it enabled.

First flight for a couple of days and ATC voices are back for me! Very odd, but welcome.🙂

I use a separate speaker for ATC, which adds to the immersion and makes it easier to hear.

Works fine on my end. Probably user error.

May check your soundcard / sound settings.  Mine occasionally switches to 5.1 from stereo and exhibits that same behavior.  I initially used to have

Azure issues and would use the offline ATC/ Voices, but that hasn't seemed to have been an issue lately.

If the offline TTS voices are played using a separate app, it could be that Windows itself is automatically attenuating their volume.

It's a Windows feature, and it can be disabled in Windows Control panel, audio settings, <Communications> tab. Unfotunately, it reverts back to auto-attenuate after evey Windows reboot. See this thread in order to understand

Strange, I need to lower the volume for ATC because it's too high, and it have been that high since the release, I have it turn down to 80%.
