October 2, 20205 yr What a great aplication for this new technology. Finally the jet pack has a useful aplication. Edited October 2, 20205 yr by martin-w

October 4, 20205 yr Author Personally, I can see this coming to fruition for emergency service fast responders. And of course the military are also interested.
October 4, 20205 yr I’m sure it takes a lot of practice to fly it that well but I’m still surprised how stable it is. Side note, this is a much better use for jetpacks than buzzing airliners at LAX! 😁 Dave Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU
October 5, 20205 yr Moderator The problem I see with the "naval assault scenario" is that both hands are busy, so they are unable to fire back at any "pirates" who sure as heck aren't going to wait for them to land! "suppress" them with a deck gun!.... erm... hang on... possibly no deck to actually land on afterwards.. Strap a couple of assault rifles to your legs with remote triggers?? October 5, 20205 yr I know someone involved with this and apparently one drawback is if the patient needs oxygen, they can't carry it......

Good point. I watched a documentary about a UK vessel intercepting pirates. And I recall a heavily armed vessel goes in first and keeps them in it sights. So then I presume the jetpack guys/girls (politically correct) would rapidly drop on the pirate vessel. So a quick way to accomplish the second phase I suppose. Edited October 6, 20205 yr by martin-w

Then a low pass and just open your legs.

If they're already in the first ship's sights and not going anywhere, I'm not sure what jetpacks accomplish that a Zodiac boat couldn't, except for the cool factor. The bad guys aren't going anywhere. Cheers Luke Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

Attempting to board the conventional way is cumbersome, especially in less than calm sees. Would seem to be easier to stand off, keep the pirates in your sights, and then drop in personel with jetpacks. Who knows, I'm probably talking nonsense. 😆

"A ship you need to regain control of? You can have 10 people in different places all at once and the first thing they'll know is when they hear a faint jet noise," a representative of Gravity said after a demonstration for then-U.K. Secretary of State for Defense Gavin Williamson in April 2019. "Yes, you are really able to do a much more discrete insertion... it's fantastic," Williamson had added at the time. " Edited October 6, 20205 yr by martin-w
