In fact, now that I think back...this seems to have happened after every update (because I always do an integrity check), and I just thought it was the norm! I haven't touched any files. In fact, with the state of this software being so unfinished, I don't even add the freebies. I'm keeping everything basic and accepting only the updates until such time as the devs get this thing to the place it should have been when they started selling it. I did, in fact, back up the base files after my purchase. Anyone who has used the cartel calling itself "Steam" knows that any major download or update through them means an all-day, or all-night (or both) adventure. Still, I have never had to restore anything from a backup. Is this a procedure that is implemented through Steam? Thanks Steam is normally OK with file integrity check (works well with FSX and X-Plane), it's just that Microsoft didn't hand them all files this time. Don't do it with FS2020 A workaround I devised to save me going through those loops stuck loading files and my Broadband isn't the best. With full up to date backup, this is what I do in case the software wannts to re-install everything. Let installer begin its process and keep an eye on what it's downloading. You can easily identify them in the backup folder. I let small downloads through. When I see it about to download a huge fle, take note of it and shutdown the sim. Copy folder from the backup and paste it to the folder where content manager is downloading files to. Restart the sim and it should notice the last folder it was about to download is already there and proceeds to next. The biggest are <fs-base-cgl>(57.2 GB) and <fs-base> (14.1 GB) For instance, if you get caught in those loops downloading fsbase 001 constantly resetting, shut down the sim, put <fs base> and you have suddenly downloaded 14 GB. I went from a 2 days downloads (due to the loops) to 2 hours max, even on 10 MB average download speed. Edited October 15, 20205 yr by FS++ Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com

I thought I read somewhere that the "Press any key" thing was removed in the latest update. If you have the C152X community mod installed,it would do that - . Check for an update - was fixed. "Press any Key" still there 😆 Edited October 15, 20205 yr by SAPilot add comment Intel i7 - 9700K @ 3.60 GHz | Asus RTX 3080 | 32 GB RAM | Saitek ProFlight Yoke System and Rudder Pedals | X-Touch Mini | Honeycomb Bravo TQ
October 15, 20205 yr Be sure you go into the content manager and look to see if any of the updates (Japan) say "Update available" and manually update. This is rookie poor UI, Asobo. [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
October 15, 20205 yr I think the reason that the Japan updates were required to fix the tall buildings is because it was the Japan add in that caused it in the first place. James

Please don't clog up zendesk with your computer problems. It's not a "bug" it's a problem on your end. It's neither a Steam nor a Microsoft "problem".
October 16, 20205 yr Author My end??? I build my own equipment and have been doing so since the days of the first PCs. I run a clean machine and rarely have a problem. When I do it's invariably a software issue. I just booted up for the first time since the last "update". I now had only two aircraft ( I bought the full house), and the software was only partially functional. I had the 152 and the Daher. I set up a flight in the Daher to see if that was functional. First thing I tried to do was toggle off the control wheels - no response. I just quit right there. I have not had any real issues since my purchase.I have no Idea what I now have, but it certainly isn't what I paid for. I've been pretty patient and tolerant of 2020 to date, but this is definitely NOT a computer problem! Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC

Doubt its a pc issue at all there are lots of posts on the steam forum saying do not do integrity check on the Steam Edition, other wise you will be doing a full reinstall I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
October 16, 20205 yr Author I think it's time to file a report. Since the last update which broke things for me I have been unable to recover. An attempt to reinstall from a local Steam backup didn't work - same situation with only two AC showing. Then an uninstall, and another all-night+ download from scratch, Same result (this is 4 or 5 of these all-day/all-night downloads for me since initial purchase). Obviously, the software is unable to successfully query it's own status and respond properly. I've tried to remain tolerant of this release, which was obviously hatched prematurely - the most common rationale for it's failures being that it's huge and complex. But those excuses can only go so far. There comes a point where the $120 purchase takes a back seat to the amount of time you spend just getting to the software to function. When software came in a box, re-installs were an annoyance. When it takes 20+ hours to do one, you begin questioning your own sanity - especially if you have another life. If there was a trigger I could pull now, to back out and get a refund, I would pull it, and wait for the time when I didn't have to pay for the privilege of being a Microsoft beta tester. Sorry for the rant. Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC
October 16, 20205 yr Author OK - after a reinstall from the backup, resulting in the same sim version with only two AC, and then a couple of hours of searching for other solutions, I finally found this thread in Zendesk: "Only 2 aircraft in the hangar - How to install additional content?" Apparently I'm not alone on this one! Solution: Boot up. Go to OPTIONS>CONTENT MANAGER. Here I found all my missing content! Some 400 GB worth. I am now downloading it. I had never visited this section of the options menu. Didn't have any content to "manage" that didn't come with the original purchase. For me, that means even the free airport add-ons that came later. I wanted to keep things uncomplicated until the sim reached a more stable and functional status. Can't tell you why a common update left me in this situation, but now I know to check the content manager if anything appears to be missing! Keep this in mind if you find yourself in a similar situation. Edited October 16, 20205 yr by Bosco19 typos Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC
