One of the reasons I keep more or less parallel 4.5 and 5.0 installs now is that when an update to v5 happens, I can do the v5 update without breaking anything in the 4.5 config. That makes it easy to bridge those annoying waiting periods as add-ons catch up with the latest-greatest in v5.
