correct

Game Pass is available on Microsoft store only so that is best so start then later you can choose if you want to buy the game.

When you choose to buy it you can go either way steam or Microsoft store

it is an Xbox game pass for windows and you buy it at the Microsoft Store with your Microsoft account.

The $1 per month was a special offer not sure if it is still available.

It is a good deal , just do NOT buy any upgrades, chances are they will not transfer to a full non sub game.

@rpowers Game Pass can be a little confusing to us OLD folks. I have it on Game Pass now going on 3 months, ($4.99 for me a month, cause I used my $1.00 before it's release) and you download the Xbox app to Access your monthly subscription, and YES you do download the Standard ONLY version as that is all that is offered. As said, DO NOT buy the upgrade there.

If you know you want it go through Steam it will be much easier, and just buy the version you want first. Decide if you want the Premium Deluxe so you don't have to mess with the crazy Upgrade prices. I am assuming you have at least the Medium Spec's or near it. Not only that but IF you like other games, Steam has some great sales during the Holidays! I was an old person that did not want Steam, but now really, really, like it!

You also have access to other games on Game Pass. BTW, it's NOW $9.99 per month after the $1.00 month! I am going to cancel my Game Pass soon and BUY it during the Holidays. I don't care about the other games, I have just be lazy 🙂

Up to you though. Main thing have fun!

Don't pay for the second month unless you like all the games it offers. I do not, but I am alright with $4.99 for now. Like I said I'm lazy, and YES choose the PC option! Be ready to have a Microsoft account or sign up for one.

And don't be confused, you do not need an Xbox to use it! Microsoft confusingly used that name even though it is for Xbox and PC

IF you know you want to own MSFS already forget about Game Pass, and either get it through Steam or buy it directly from Microsoft Store. Just buy the version you want at the beginning as the Upgrade prices are not good! If you want to TRY it in Game Pass just go to the site and sign up for the middle PC ONLY $1.00 option and follow the instructions. Just go slow, and read before you click on something. It even gives you the option to download the Xbox Game APP, which is very confusing for us old folks 🙂

Good luck! Just make sure it states $1.00 before entering any payment info on Game Pass!

As stated above, it is called Xbox game pass but it is for PC . just some bad marketing going on with the naming, you do not actually need an Xbox for the PC game pass it is for Windows 10.

Just make sure you get the one that says "for PC "

Xbox is the name of Microsoft's games consoles, just as Playstation is Sony's console range.  But, as I say, you don't need one of those to use Game Pass, despite what the description of Game Pass implies.

The only thing I would add is the $1 is for the first month.

if your intent is to try it for a dollar and then stop you need to suspend it before the end of the first month or it will hit you up for $10 in the second month.

Theres 3 versions pick one dont buy it from Microsoft you will be sorry

I am sure you feel justified in saying this, but I have the MS version *PremiumDeluxe) and have had very few problems with it and all have been solved by the community and or being addressed by the MS/Asobo combination.

Could you just expand on your reasons as I am curious and not being nasty. I would love to know the advantages.

Also, whilst it has been point out, You can indeed buy the premium deluxe (to my knowledge) for XBOX. You just don't get that version despite what you may have paid for. At least that is my interpretation

The biggest advantage of the steam version is none of the files need special permission to modify or copy.

As far as buying premium Deluxe for the game pass version I believe you do indeed get all the aircraft WHILE YOU ARE USING GAME PASS but if you decide later to buy the standalone version instead of subbing the pass, the Premium Deluxe addons do not transfer you need to buy the addon again

Thanks Glenn for clearing that up for me.  Whilst knowing that, may or may not have an impact on my decision, the "permissions" thing is certainly worth avoiding. I am also grateful that you corrected me with regard to the standard vs the deluxe and premium deluxe versions. I certainly misinterpreted that one, although one has to admit that that is easy given the marketing on this platform.

Cheers mate
