November 21, 20205 yr Going back to the OP, any idea when this package will release for live traffic? Given the AIG OCI will not be ready until second half of 2021, I hope what we see in this trailer is somewhat ready to go? These current AI planes in the simulator are a total immersion killer for me and I'm a total AI freak. Bring it on. Also, did anyone figure out how to park the AI in the proper parking spots yet? November 21, 20205 yr Yeah, can't wait to bring my frames down into the teens again by adding too much AI traffic. 😉

Apparently the package is almost ready to go, but the FSLTL team is in the process of getting permission from the original authors (which is the absolutely the right thing to do). From their post: So… when will FSLTL be released? The FLAi package is a product of collective voluntary work. It consists of 160 models made by more than twenty 3d artists and hundreds of liveries produced by dozens of people. In order to release our work based on their assets, we need to get in touch with everybody and ask for their permission. There is no way around this and it is just the right thing to do. And it takes time, a lot of it. That is what is happening now - FLAi, on their side, is reaching out to the authors, we’re developing FSLTL at the same time. In some cases we can’t eliminate all visual or critical bugs without access to original assets, so we have to rely on the original modeller to provide them. and We’ll release the “beta than nothing” incomplete version as soon as a reasonable number of authors have given their consent. In the meantime, they've also asked for upvotes on these two threads: Where is Live Traffic? - Community / Dev Q&A: Post Questions Here! - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums Improve AI Traffic at Airports and in The Air - Self-Service / Wishlist - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
November 21, 20205 yr Upvoted both, AI is my life. I can't deal with the sim with mickey mouse AI. Bring it baby! Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
November 21, 20205 yr From what we know: FSTL will try to use the FSX Models provided in the FLAI pack, thats what AIG has tried as well in our current internal version - and we are no happy with the result. Thats the reason we have set our release date that far in 2021, we hope to have till then all models in the new format ready...
November 22, 20205 yr It looks like just like new graphics cards, out of reach to the average person. James
November 22, 20205 yr So we are going to get FSX models as A.I....? Isn't this a step down from the stock/current MSFS A.I. models used in the sim now? Edited November 22, 20205 yr by Kilo60 Chris Camp
November 29, 20205 yr This is fantastic.... And I think it's really important to keep in mind the difference between live and static traffic. Ultimately though, it won't be a significant evolutionary step unless the *live* traffic (based on FlightAware live data per Asobo) forms the base for the "real traffic" in FS2020. The sim just needs to be able to take over and reasonably manage the traffic on the ground, since live transponder data isn't reliable on the ground.

As far as I can tell the Live traffic aren't just models being pulled along by Flightaware's data, there is AI involved. Taxing, landing and taking off at least. Interestingly, I actually had a 'live' flight land at Honolulu early today, about 2-3 minutes before the real plane it was copying actually landed. Based on flight aware's page for the flight anyways, it was still on approach while it's in-sim duplicate was already on the runway. Though once it slowed down, it did start to turn onto the taxiway, but then it just stopped and despawned after a few minutes. I don't know if that was because the real flight hadn't landed yet, or just a regular 'ol AI bug. I've seen plenty of live traffic planes taxi to and from gates. Asobo talked about the live traffic a bit in the latest Q&A. Flights that don't have arrival or destinations in their data, or give erroneous altitude (like being at ground level while moving between airports) won't be spawned by the sim. They're trying to figure out ways around that. Apparently one day during testing, like 90% of flights over Paris didn't have destination data so almost nothing spawned. Also when flight aware loses the signal from the plane, like when they're flying over the pacific or Atlantic, the sim tries to fill in the blanks. Edited November 29, 20205 yr by Tuskin38
