OK so loaded 500+ lbs aft juts to have CG seen agree with norm. In that config I was able to get into incident spin.

Low tail take off technique prove to be very stable. Now I wonder if all take off complication is due CG too forward. Wake definitely missing some weight on tail wheel so keeping stick aft compensate for it

Thats what I wonder too... They may have to fix the CG (which should be easy...) Where do you find the documentation?

I suspect (with no real evidence) the Vintage ones were 2 seat and the more recent retro modern ones were 3 seat.

If so it seems like this Carenado is hybrid of vintage in the 3D modelling and modern in the FM ?

Bit odd regardless.

I am pretty sure they are modelling the more modern airplane...

Like in all of Carenadoaircraft in official folder find corresponding Carendo folder then go inside SimObject and consequent folders until you see folder documentation. There are 3 pdf files

The sim generically does seem to have CoG issues.  I think that is one of the things the iris guys are struggling with on the Jabiru and why they have said some FM fixes are waiting on SDK improvements.

With the RIP Bleriot the only way to get it off the ground is keep the stick back till airborne and steer with brief taps of left or right rudder returning to centred in between each tap then forward stick to gain speed once airborne. Forward stick on takeoff roll makes it very unstable.

By the way this mod did an excellent job! In fact this closest to RL experience for me in taildragger among stock MSFS

I do have that, probably should fly it more.

WRT he generic FM modelling and the SDK this is what the bleriot guys had to say:

Meanwhile, Pamela Brooker took a deep dive into the new flight model, and while some aspects have been improved upon drastically in the new simulator, some other parts of the aerodynamics simulation seem to have been forgotten. The result is a flight model which needs extreme overdamping of the controls and still results in oversensitivity of rudder, elevator and ailerons. Despite those issues, Pamela managed to find a way to get the Blériot XI to conform to her numbers. From an aerodynamics point of view she has created a study-level representation of this iconic 1909 flying machine.

Straight of the front page at A2A:

The Accu-Sim Aerostar is also different in that it’s being designed largely for the purpose of training. A2A owner and developer Scott Gentile owns and operates Aerostar N122PC and wants his airplane “Accu-Simmed” for the specific purpose of becoming the safest pilot he can be.”

Right, after explaining away the customers request for port overs.

So,  not what customers want, but what the boss wants. I’d say that at least a tad vain...

And now the plane is a write-off after that belly landing.

Bought it....looks nice.

But any tips on keeping it at least somewhat centered on the runway during takeoff and landing?

On my setup it gradually picks up speed then promptly careens off the side of the runway, ANY adjustments to the rudder at all lead to an out of control airplane for me (with tailwheel lock on or off).

Landing is also unpleasant, but almost seems easier than takeoff?

Steve

Good luck to see GS at night 🙂

Do not have this addon yet, but if it is anything like the other aircraft with take-off issues you need to make sure rudder is centred in external view (do not trust the pedal position) ease on the throttle slowly and use short jabs to correct direction rather than trying to use any sort of finesse with rudder.

Bought it tonight. Going up to Cottonwood, AZ, on Friday night to start Kermit's epic journey. Just like him, I'll start with a few touch and goes to get a feel for the bird. But I'll have a Guinness at my elbow.🍺 Maybe someone will make that N53WC livery.

OK guys my take off tips:

No wind!

1. Tail wheel locked (assign key for it there is  no click spot in waco)

2. Controls all way aft (to your belly! :))

3. Gradually apply power, slowly dance on rudder

4. At around 50 mph eas up stick to neutral (at this speed rudder become more or less efficient), gently apply rudder to compensate gyroscopic precession and tail lift.

5.  As tail lift slowly bring stick aft and you are airborne!

Hopefully they can refine the takeoff... I don't think it should be that difficult.
