Shouldn't you be avoiding all of these blatantly tedious topics? Your missing the point the topic isn’t tedious it’s the repeated nature of it, we have a new topic every 2 days on this forum about this subject, If you have a new angle on it great just post it on one of the many threads already out there. There’s plenty of topics I avoid purely as they don’t appeal to me but quite rightly still have there place but this regurgitating nature of sim vs game is just a bit ridiculous now.

There was no heated argument in this thread prior to this point, even now. This is not the controversy you seek. Of course, you too are free to waste your time as you see fit. Let me know when the terrain from Fortnite can be leveraged for other applications including use by the military for mission planning, architectural plans, or indeed other games or sims which require a detailed real-world model which can get good frame rates on a modest computer. People need to be aware that the development of the architecture for the MSFS terrain is not just about this flying game. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

December 21, 20205 yr Can we just enjoy MSFS and get over these topics about game vs sim? There are already several threads about this in past days and I think many has made there points there. December 21, 20205 yr LOL...this same discussion has been ongoing for decades in the flight simulator community. People get so hung up on semantics. I guess when you’re certificated and flown in the real world, it’s not as important that it’s called a simulator. I think some folks think they have more credibility if it’s called a simulator vs a game. I’ve logged hours on FAA certified simulators and often they don’t have the realism of Microsoft Flight Sim, and that’s been true for me since FS9. So if people call it a game, or it’s marketed to the masses, so what? If you want real world accuracy, go down to your local airport and take a lesson.

I think the original poster points were more about the developer's future investment in the software based on a more general target market. Still unknown is the state of Asobo's commitment to provide migration of C++ code for the larger commercial developers, as an example. Asobo/Microsoft, could at this very moment, decide no new features will be implemented, only bugfixes will be provided. December 21, 20205 yr That wouldn’t be so dire to me. 2020 would still be the best visual foundation I’ve ever experienced in a desktop sim (sorry for that word). Commercial providers could fill in the gaps. If I could just get my hands on a good taildragger - say, an Aviat Husky - that could do a full-on side slip in a realistic-feeling crosswind......... Again, back to the original poster, his concerns center on the software user (notice I didn't say "simmer") that may want and enjoy a more encompassing feature set. A feature set that includes more technical characteristics of real world flight. I am primarily a GA/MIL aircraft user in the software. I like planning a flight, calculating fuel, etc. to mimic a real world flight as part of my software experience. In MSFS right now, fuel consumption/calculation is laughably wrong. For Asobo/Microsoft to decide that accurate fuel consumption was a feature and not a bug to be fixed, this could affect some percentage of users, while the profits still roll in from the majority of sales.
