April 22, 20215 yr Why does it matter whether people call it a game, or a simulation? It is exactly what it is, no matter what it's called. April 22, 20215 yr Commercial Member Simulation is used in many contexts, such as simulation of safety engineering, testing, training, education, and video games. A simulation video game describes a diverse super-category of video games, generally designed to closely simulate real world activities. Amateur flight simulation refers to the simulation of various aspects of flight or the flight environment for purposes other than flight training or aircraft development. MS wants to reach a mass market with the flying game, but the users who come back from Prepard 3d and others are neglectable. A simulation that requires top-class hardware is not the target group! Compare the numbers FS2020, 2 million, Fortnite 250 million registered users. We have to be prepared for it! very true....something that appeals to the masses, kids and adults alike, is what is going to be developed Kind regards, Tim CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K (OC 4.7) CPU COOLER: Noctua nh-d15S GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070-Ti FTW2 8GB SSD: Crucial MX500 1TB HDD: Seagate 500GB - Maxtor 250GB - WD 250GB RAM: Team Vulcan 16 GB MBD: Gigabyte Z370P D3 PSU: Evga 650w OS: Win 10 Pro

April 22, 20215 yr Who the heck cares if it's a game or sim. Some of guys either need a life or a girlfriend. I know it's a global pandemic and all but you can still go outside,go to the park ride a bike, have a cookout lol

April 22, 20215 yr Let's get down to the perceptions about exactly what is missing from MSFS that contributes to the opinion MSFS isn't a simulation, versus P3D which isn't questioned as a 'simulation'. Leave out features that are in MSFS, but not quite good enough, for example ATC, which is present but poorly implemented, so far. I think it's reasonable to assume MS/A will work on ATC and other areas that as I say are present in MSFS, but not quite there yet. Same same for stability and performance issues which are part of all 'flight simulations' at some point in their development. Okay...GO! List what's missing from MSFS it will be an interesting discussion! My gestalt on this mainly is that the SDK isn't robust enough to implement more systems and features. Or to put it where the goats can get it, if the SDK was robust enough to allow PMDG and others to produce an NGXu/777/Dash 8 that functions essentially the same in MSFS as in P3D, does MSFS then qualify as a simulation for all of those people who see it as a 'game'? Surely the way it's delivered, PC v Xbox, should have zero to do with sim v game ultimately.
