Its misty low ceiling rain in Houston, but all i get is clear weather, even trying the workaround.  Is live weather closed for new years celebrations ??

maybe it was  a server thing....i just know when i loaded REX everything matched

For me...(and I cannot speak for everyone claiming it works ) it DOES NOT work and has not worked in weeks.  I fly out of US airports and I have access to every single current  ATIS from the AOPA website. Sometimes the winds are close to RW ATIS, sometimes the temps are close to reported RW ATIS.  Some times the winds aloft are somewhat close.  But I NEVER see the skies (cloud cover, etc) appear close or accurate to RW weather. I simply pull down the weather icon and click on my UNREAL WEATHER and within seconds the skies instantly appear as reported in the ATIS.  The winds, temps, and altimeter is EXACTLY as reported by RW ATIS.  I always load the flight with CLEAR SKIES selected, then click on LIVE WEATHER hoping it may work that day (which it never does).

I enjoy the sim and choose to not complain about things but since the OP asked, I thought I would state my findings here.  HAPPY NEW YEAR !  Long live the freeware programmers donating their time for our enjoyment !  Special shout out to the CJ4 Working Team !!

Not sure how your picture concludes you are receiving accurate weather.  Maybe a pic of "misty low ceiling rain in Houston" would be more appropriate to the OP's request .

I flew from Gatwick to Boston yesterday - the Live Weather all the way across the `Atlantic was spookily close to the real weather charts I was keeping an eye on during the flight.

I flew back to Heathrow early this morning and it was still extremely accurate.

Live Weather Fix:

Spawn with preset 'Clear Skies'. Sitting at the gate, change to 'Live Weather' via the top menu. Takes a second or two and live weather will be loaded.

Works every time for me for the last 100 hours of simming.

When changing location, you need to restart the sim and proceed as above.

Weather is getting better (meaning more real) all the time. It is a work in progress, for sure, but they will eventually get there!

Happy New Year!

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

Just loaded a flight at KIAH RW ATIS reporting >> Light Rain OVC at 600 feet vis at 2 nm temp 10C - Altimeter 29,66 - Winds 230/12 Gust to 18

Sitting on Ramp and observe ->  Low visibility NO rain but every 2 or 3 minutes get several  burst of lightning and thunder - Avionics reports Altimeter at 29.58 temp at 12 C winds from west at 9 kts... close but no cigar and I cannot stand the lightning every 2 minutes !!

EDIT :  loaded the flight with CLEAR SKIES >> THEN loaded LIVE weather and the above was received after a few seconds

Loaded UNREAL WEATHER and everything MATCHED ATIS perfectly.  Light rain and NO Lightning.  Temps altimeter and winds matched perfect.

It is hit or miss. Unfortunately seems to miss more often, as it is predictive and not pulling realtime live weather (NOAA etc.) products. Frustrating to check METARS and then go fly based on weather only to have it be blue skies and some clouds...

Other times it has been pretty close so its a roll of the dice.

It's all good....The Live weather has always been a little hit and miss for me.  But today I was unable to duplicate sky conditions, so I jumped on the REX program.  It's an extra step and slight cost, but now the weather is duplicated wonderfully and the interface is straight forward.

Live weather does seem to be hit or miss, but per comments in one of the Dev Q&As it is "intended" to incorporate METAR data near airports in addition to the predictive model for the rest of the world.

I flew across the entire US on the 26th, cloud cover seemed correct, winds in the parts of the country that are flat/low seemed correct.  Winds in the areas near the Rockies with higher terrain elevation seemed wrong, almost as if they have mixed up altitude 'above ground level' with 'above sea level'.  Several folks have noted the same in the past.

This right here.  Always worked for me as well.
