Too bright, washed out.

Has anyone tried the Salty 747 mod? It has lowered the exposure view from the 747 cockpit somehow, which gives me hope there may be a way to do it ourselves

Me too... everything is to bright !

Same here, too bright in VR.

Even if they made the sun visors work in VR that would help. If I look up through the visor at the clouds it makes a world of difference.

Did anyone find out how to make things less bright in VR? Just loaded MSFS after a year and it's just as bad, is perhaps worse!

This tool gives you the ability to change brightness in VR in MSFS, along with many other great features.

9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit

MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS |  VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11

Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

Can someone that has tried the OpenXR toolkit report back on progress?  This issue must be solved.  It is super annoying.

I’ve resorted to setting an overcast layer at FL350, playing with thickness & then flying below that layer just to tame the brightness/ bloom of the sun.  Obviously not an ideal solution.

It does help a little bit, I highly recommend trying the tool for its other settings as well which really improved my performance in VR 10 fold !

There are many settings for brightness / saturation and what not.. I haven't paly with it to big extend but it does help.. however it does not get rid of it and fixes it 100%, but it is something, better then anything else available at this time. I simply try not to fly at noon hours 16:00 - 09:00 and fly west in the AM, east in the PM LOL

What settings did you use to improve VR performance? I've got a reasonable level using my 3090, but it still feels a little jerky at times.

Found this a while back on one of the other forums, so I don't have the link. But here is what I use and this really fixed things for me in VR.

In the UserCfg.opt file, look under VR settings, Post Process. Change the Color Grading from 1 to 0. Not perfect, but a whole world better, like putting on sunglasses.

{PostProcess
        Enabled 1
        EyeAdaptation 1
        ColorGrading 1
